Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bit of kit If you have the requirement (as I had) of swapping hard disks around it is a right pain to have to open up your PC and physically swap the cables over. This unit, which fits in a 3.5 inch bay, solves the problem, simply. The unit allows TWO 2.5 inch SATA hard disks to be connected to the computer and swapped at will. I had no problem fitting my 240Gb SDD System Disk into the unit. Each hard disk has its own bay inside the unit and a lockable door. Once the PC is switched off (for safety's sake - you don't want to disconnect the hard disk when it is being accessed by the PC), the latch is operated and the hard disk springs out about 1cm. The disk can then be slowly pulled out of the bay. Inserting a hard disk is similarly easy. Slide the disk into the unit, push gently with your thurmb and then push the door closed until it latches. That's it! You can now power the PC up again. Useful when you want to swap a System Disk containing Windows with a disk containing, say, Linux. All cables/screws etc are included - however, note that the power cable that is included is a 4-pin MOLEX male plug to female SATA socket. If your power supply doesn't have MOLEX sockets - you'll need a female 4-pin MOLEX socket to male SATA plug converter cable (SCAN sell these - search for LN33736) or an adapter (search for LN27721). It is a shame that a more modern cable isn't included. You *could* just use the standard SATA power cable but then the front LED indicating drive activity wouldn't work. Finally, each disk requires its own power supply cable and, of course, its own SATA data cable. Overall, I can thoroughly recommend this unit if you need to swap hard drives over quickly.

What rear connections does this unit have?

Obviously this unit will have two SATA DATA connectors but does it have a single SATA power connector or two? If one, I’m guessing that the power is split internally?

To answer my own question! The unit has TWO SATA power connectors and TWO SATA data connectors on the rear of the unit. NOTE that the power cable supplied is a MOLEX male 4-pin to SATA Female plug. Instruction sheet: http://www.akasa.com.tw/download/manual/IEN03%20installation_1_web.pdf

Will the M21 fits into M51

HI, I wonder if the M21 will fit into the Akasa Lokstor M51 2.5" & 3.5" HDD Combo Rack? I have just purchased these items and it seems that the M21 isnt compatible with the M51 :-( Thank you
