Does What I NeedNot really much to say about this other than it was very simple to install, seems built really well, and works a charm. Helps keep my desktop tidy and as a photographer, I do tend to use a lot of SD cards.

Not the quality item I was expectingInstallation is very difficult as connecting cables are too short. The front face is larger than 5 1/4 standard so is not easily fitted and as its a short depth, about 1/4 of a standard dvd drive, none of the auto bay fixings work, you will need to screw it into position. I'm uncertain why 2 charing ports are provided and they use the old type fan power connections so had to go looking for those. I don't think I'll go for this type again and for appox £40 plus delivery it is not value for money.

Good value, simple to installI bought this card reader specifically to use the USB 3, fast charge and cf card connections. If you are reasonably familiar with the inside of a pc case, it is very easy to install. However, unlike my earlier card reader, this one requires an internal sata power connection to power the fast charge ports.
I have used Akasa products before, and will very likely do so again.

Akasa InterConnect EX card reader for 5.25" BayThe Akasa is a good quality card reader with 4 USB 3 inputs and 2 USB charging ports. The only downside is the Molex power connector though you can use a Sata power cable with a Molex adaptor also there is a Molex pass through cable that can be connected to the Sata input with a Molex to Sata adaptor so one Sata power cable from the PSU can supply the whole unit with adaptors or you could use a Molex cable from the PSU and a Molex to Sata adaptor from the pass through. Either way this is a good card reader.

Solidly build, great looking card reader. At the time of writing (March '18) this card reader probably takes just about every popular type of card going.
For me, I wanted an internal card reader that would accept CF, SDXC cards, with a brushed aluminium facia to match the front of a Corsair Obsidian 800d case.
The fact that this reader also has 4 x USB 3 ports and two power charging ports is a bonus.
My biggest gripe with this reader is the file transfer speed. Quoted "theoretical transfer speeds" of up to 6Gb/sec from Akasa's own website are nowhere near what you'll get.
Transferring from a 64Gb CF card Windows shows a transfer speed that tops out at around 120 Mb/sec!
Theoretical transfer speeds are a scam and one step away from false advertising in my opinion......in theory my Ford Focus RS can do 450mph........meanwhile, in the real world.......sure you get my point.
All of that said.....transferring at the speed I get with this reader is still quicker than direct from the camera using the supplied cable.
Only other things to watch out for with this reader:-
1/. CF cards especially stick out quite some way, somewhere in the region of 25mm, just make sure a card won't get bumped or caught while mounted in the reader;
2/. Make sure when mounting a CF card you insert it square to the face of the reader......the pins inside the CF slot look quite long and prone to damage if you insert the card at an angle.
Very pleased with this reader overall.

Premium, well made, works great. So this is partly a review, and partly some things that should have been in the instruction manual, but aren't. :-)
The review bit: This is a well made box based on a Genesys Logic GL3522 hub and a Realtek RTS5301 card reader. Front panel is a nice glossy brushed aluminium finish. Also contrary to another review, the USB3 ports *are* fully backwards compatible with USB 2.0 drives, everything works just as it should.
Now, the instructions bit:
There are two power connectors on the back, an SATA and a Molex passthrough. It isn't made clear in the manual but these *aren't* an either/or proposition.
In order to get full functionality you (slightly annoyingly) need to connect *both* of these, thereby causing more case wiring than you might like.
The SATA powers the pair of USB power only ports, while the Molex powers the USB3 hub. This isn't made clear in the manual, so if you wire it up and something doesn't work, make sure you connected both power headers. Maybe this has been done deliberately in order to ensure that the USB power sockets get adequate current (or run off a different PSU rail to the hub) but that seems unnecessary.
Also bear in mind that the single USB2.0 header connects and powers the smart card reader only. If you don't need this functionality, you don't need to connect this header.
Once you get it set up, it does the job great. Not cheap, but a quality item nevertheless.

Very Good ProductThis is an excellent card reader with the convenience of faster charging for Ipad.
The only strange thing is when you connect the usb 3 to the motherboard header, the usb sockets will not work with usb 2 products. Usb 3 no problems.
If you want to read usb 2 flash drives you are better off with a different product.
