Product Overview

A Fat Thing

This external RAID enclosure offers place for a total of eight SATA I/II/III HDDs or SSDs. It is made mainly of aluminium and is therefore stable and dissipate the heat very effeciently. The HDD cooling is achieved using two 80 mm temperature regulated fans on the back side of the enclosure and an air inlet on the bottom of the drive bays. The door can naturally be locked.

The RAID system display informs via various LEDs regarding the operation, fan, interfaces, disk usage and errors (RAID). The various usage of this enclosure is self explanatory thanks to its support for RAID level 0 (Striping), 10, 5, 50 and BIG (Spanning). in addition the external interfaces play a big role as a USB 3.0 and eSATA ports are build into the enclosure in order to ensure maximal output speed.

Additionally, this enclosure is equipped with a trayless HDD installation, energy saving 'standby mode', auto rebuilding function, HotSwap, plug & play and of course support for both mac and windows.

A Real Storage Giant

The IB-RD3680 is the largest RAID/JBOD enclosure we currently have to offer. Eight HDDs will find in this case their place. It is available in two different versions, one as a Non-RAID and once as a RAID enclosure with the support for the following RAID modes: 0/10/5/50 / BIG (Spanning).

Faster Exchange

Thanks to HotSwap and Plug & Play, replacing an HDD is very easy and comfortable, but transfering data is as fast as comfortable. The internal SATA interface combines with the external eSATA and USB 3.0 provide a fast and reliable solution.

Cooling Please!

The enclosure is made completely of aluminumup except of the front cover. This high-quality material always ensures a passive heat dissipation to the ambient air. In addition, it provides a silent operation thanks to the temperature-controlled fan, which actively ensures air circulation.

• Silent operation by thermal controlled fan
• Energy saving by supporting sleep modus!
• Easy assembling by trayless design!
• HDD capacity unlimited
• External data interface: USB 3.0, eSATA

TekSpek Guides

You've probably read the USB Tekspek, and perhaps your intrigue, or product interest, has lead you to look up Firewire as well. The two are similar in some respects, particularly some of the products that use the two technologies. However, Firewire has its differences, which means it has both benefits and drawback when compared to USB. This Tekspek will look at Firewire and also look at it with respect to USB.

ICY BOX IB-RD3680SU3 External RAID Tower enclosure for 8x SATA3 HDD to USB 3.0/eSATA Host is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big fast DAS storage. This box sits next to my video editing system. It delivers good performance (6K RAW) at a noise level better than a Lacie Big box and about the same as an Arcea 8050. It builds quickly, but be aware that indexing can take about 2 days, when you will hear a regular disk access every 2 seconds or so. After that all is fine.

Raid & Capacity Question

Can I run all 8 drives in RAID 0 and what is the maximum drive size supported per bay?
Asked by: LLOYD1985
Hello, There is no specified limit to the capacity for each drive. You should be able to run the drives in RAID 0/10/5/50 / BIG. Regards,
