I would recommend at least a 750w PSU.
An i5 clocked at about 4.2 Ghz together with a 980 with a mild overclock will run at ~350-400W, which is just the upper end of the efficiency and heat/noise sweet spot for a 550W PSU.
Once you add additional components (more fans, water pump if you use water cooling, high RPM HDDs, going for a high overclock), it's going to push the PSU to a less efficient, noisier and hotter level.
Going to 650W or 750W will give you a much better safety margin.
