Reviews
550W Corsair RM550x, Full Modular, 80 PLUS Gold, SLI/CrossFire, Single Rail, 45.8A, 135mm Fan, ATX PSU is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet, seems reliable, but average cables. Yeah, there's not much to say about it as it seems to work exactly as expected - however the one down side is that the cabling included was pretty limited, with only two 3x SATA cables. Now, I know that there's an image of some cables, but previous Corsair PSUs have had 4x SATA connectors per cable, which would have just about sufficed - though a 3rd cable would have been even better. Okay, so personally I don't go in for windowed casing, so I guess no one's going to know that there's a MOLEX-to-2x SATA adapter other than me, but for the cost of the thing then it's a bit poor in that regard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silent Running I have a PSU that sounded like a jet engine taking off. It was brand new. So my main criteria was a silent PSU. This is silent. The fan does not kick in with my normal use. Only when I am straining the PC does the fan kick in, and even then it is quiet. Being modular it was straight forward to install. The fact that I only use the cables needed means that there is no useless clump of unneeded cables. So better air circulation. Expensive, but worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great PSU but at a Cost The RM550x is a great PSU, the build quality is excellent as you would expect from a corsair product and it has been completely silent since using it. I bought this as a PSU for a PC Build for my Son for Xmas I would recommend this if you are building a quality based system that you expect to last a good long while as it is an expensive option. I have it happily running 6 HDD's, 16GB Ram, Skylake I5 and a GTX960 and there is still plenty of room to make system changes without going over the power capabilities such as a more power hungry GPU etc. It doesn't have a large amount of power module slots but that's to be expected for a 550W PSU being modular it does mean that it was easier to cable manage the PSU than one that isn't but it's not really a selling feature as it would be on a larger PSU that you would be adding lots of system options to.
