Product Overview SSD Performance. HDD capacity. Affordable Price.
SSHDs are now available for your desktop computer. Get the speed and kick of an integrated solid state drive (SSD) with the massive capacity of a desktop hard drive – all at a surprisingly low price!

• Up to 4TB of massive storage capacity
• Solid state speed for fast, responsive system performance
• Innovative use of solid state memory delivers affordable performance and capacity
• NAND Flash and HDD technology work better together to deliver improved reliability
Features Solid State Drive Technology Inside Your SSHD
SSHD technology uses the right amount of ultra-fast NAND flash (the same type used in SSDs) to increase system performance. Seagate Adaptive Memory™ technology effectively identifies the most frequently-used data and stores it in the NAND flash. The results give you greatly improved boot times, application loads and overall system responsiveness.

Get It All – Desktop Speed and Capacity
With SSHD technology, there is no need to trade capacity for high performance. The Seagate Desktop SSHD is available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities, giving you plenty of space for all of your digital video, HD DVDs, photos, video games, or mp3 music files.

Affordable and reliable SSHD for your desktop
SSHDs fuse the strength of SSD and HDD into one affordable and powerful device. You’ll be surprised at how little you have to pay to get SSD-like performance in your desktop system.
And since SSD fuses the strengths of both HDD and SSD technologies, you get the combined reliability of both in a solid state hybrid drive product.

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by One DOA. Replacement Only Works As 2TB HDD. BAD Buy. Replacement HDD would only initialise as a 2TB, with windows 10 unable to create a volume or format the latter 2TB. Tried both GPT/MBT settings and all available free Seagate software, but to no avail. Been looking for reviews online and this series of drives are repeatedly failing. Won't buy another Seagate HDD until they get their act together. 29 September 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not what I was expecting I'm afraid one of the drives packed up after a few weeks, what more can I add! 05 July 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by No nonsense large capacity with enhanced performance. Running this drive in parallel with WD Black 4TB drive, and so far unable to tell the difference between them. 31 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Use the free seagate software to format and configure 4GB HDD You will need to use the free seagate software download to recognise and format this disk drive, unless you have alternative HDD software to hand, as MS Windows did not seem to recognise a disk of this capacity. I installed all of this and configured the disk on a PC running MS vista so assume you will have no problems doing the same under windows 7 or 8. If you are going to use the drive as a data only drive you can configure to be a single 4TB disk. If you want to have as a boot drive you must configure as 2+2TB drives. 04 February 2014

My system drive is a Samsung 256gb PRO SSD and I want to store some games on SSD and a load of games on a normal drive. Would this be a good option?

Answer:
A Hybrid drive can be used in the same way as a standard HDD, so there is no reason you cannot use this for storage in place of a standard mechanical HDD.

Can you please confirm whether this is 5900 or 7200 Rotation Speed?

Something has to account for the 50% loss of speed from 8ms to 12ms compare to the 2tb version

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2tb-seagate-desktop-sshd-35-7200rpm-64mb-cache-8ms-ncq-oem

Also can this drive be partitioned with standard hard disk tools like those found in Hiren.

I understand it needs to be partitioned which is fine as I would have done so anyway, but I want to make sure that I do not need to use some Seagate tools, I understand Windows does not recognise it until partitioned but do other partitioning tools recognise it?

Looking at the Seagate official tech spec sheet for the ST3000DM001, it is better/faster on almost all fronts than this SSHD. How come? What's the advantage of this drive then?
