4TB WD Red WD40EFRX, 3.5" NAS HDD, SATA III - 6Gb/s, 5400rpm, 64MB Cache, NCQ is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal for NAS I fitted two of these drives into my Qnap TS-219 P+ six weeks ago. They are working quietly and faultlessly. They replace two Samsung HD204UI drives which were not as quiet and one of which would from time to time disconnect. from the Qnap. I use them to backup images of my my PC HDD each day using Norton Ghost 15.0.. A weekly master followed by six daily increments. A total of around 296 GB/week.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First drive failed - replacement OK This disk was purchased as an additional disk in a WD MyCloud server. The first supplied disk was DoA. It was quickly replaced and the replacement is still performing well after 2 weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Drives at a good price I ordered 2 of these drives to add to a Synology DS216 Play. WD Red drives are excellent & well suited to NAS devices. They were quickly dispatched by Scan however I have 2 issues. 1) The drives were not that well packaged, only wrapped in bubble wrap. 2) The drives I received were OEM (Out of Region) drives, nowhere on the Scan website is this stated. Had I known this I would not have purchased from Scan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product for SOHO NAS enclosures Not the cheapest drive, but worth the modest premium for the good reliability. I have about 10 of these, bought over a period of time, with no drive failures to date. All drives fail eventually but these ones give a good lifetime of the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value Received in good time and good order. Drive worked first time. Good price per gig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the tin I am not really qualified to write a review on a hard disc form a technical point of view. As a user however the discs (I bought 2) arrived safely packaged. They were easy to fit and setting up the NAS drive I bought them for could not really have been easier. I am very satisfied and would buy them again given the requirement. The NAS drive is easy to use and is the second QNAP NAS system I have bought. The first one has run reliably for many years and lived through the dust of a house renovation. I wanted to double up on my back up strategy so I have now bought the second one and I am very pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good - don't forget to order cable! I'm very happy with the drive - no problems fitting it in my Chillblast PC or using it. I should have ordered a SATA 3.0 cable at the same time but I managed to get one from the local Maplin shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it should. It's a hard drive. Speeds seem decent. Can't comment on reliability yet.

(1 to 8 Bay NAS) OR (NASware 2.0), which is true?

You are advertising the WD40EFRX as both suitable for "1 to 8 Bay NAS Boxes", and yet also saying it has "NASware 2.0". These statements can't both be true.(according to western digital) To clarify: Old NASware 2.0 drives only support 1 to 5 Bay NAS Boxes Newer NASware 3.0 drives support 1 to 8 Bay NAS Boxes If you put 8 of the NASware 2.0 drives in an 8-bay NAS box they resonate together and quickly die. That's what the NASware 3.0 firmware fixes. (NB: Users can't change the firmware on these drives themselves due to the factory calibration required.) So, which drives are you selling?
