Rated 5 out of 5 by from NAS DRIVES My three NAS Units are fitted with WD Red drives with the oldest ones have been running for five years without issue, so I’m quiet happy with their performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from working fine I bought two of these along with a Thecus NAS box and set them up as a RAID 1 config. Been working fine since installation a few weeks ago. Very quiet as is the Thecus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intended as an External Drive, to survive abuse as a long term backup The External Drive is now performing to specification on USB 2. Fast. Robust. Between 25 and 27 GBytes of Robust Storage for each of your British pounds -- Excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For my Synology DS412+ Acquired my Synology DS412+ some years ago when dedicated NAS drives didn't exist; the nearest thing was "enterprise" drives. So, being a cheapskate, I chose standard desktop drives over the much more expensive enterprise drives. Recently, but after five or six years good service, one of the standard desktop drives that I had installed in a RAID 10 group began to fail. So I replaced two 2TB Seagate Barracudas (ST2000DM001) with two 2TB WD Reds (WD20EFRX). One of the Seagates had over 5,000 bad sectors reported and Seatools declared it unusable so it was sent for recycling (but only after I had protected the data it held!). NAS now performing OK again. In the course of the next three or four weeks I will replace the two remaining 2TB desktop HDDs in the NAS, a Seagate (ST2000DN006) and a WD Black (WD2002FAEX) with WD Reds. So, hopefully another five or six or more years NAS usage without problems. :) Why WD Reds and not Seagate IronWolf? No special reason other than I have had a long time preference for WD as their RMA process is so much simpler than that of Seagate.

2T drive for Drobo 5d

Hi I am looking for 5x drives to go into a Drobo 5D that i am going to order from you, which drive would you recommend? i am looking at 5x of these drives would they be good? i will be using them for video editing.
Asked by: TVCam
These drives are recommended for use in RAID arrays, and I have used them successfully in both larger and smaller arrays than you Drobo 5D, so assuming the capacity is right for you, then this would make a good choice.
