The SilverStone RM31-MINI is a compact 3U rackmount chassis designed to offer high performance, strong cooling, and generous expansion in a short-depth form factor suitable for servers, workstations, and multi-GPU builds.
Compact 3U Short-depth Design
The RM31-MINI uses a 3U rackmount form factor with a short 391 mm depth, making it easier to deploy in shallow racks or space-constrained environments while still providing a 22.6-litre internal volume. Its steel construction enhances structural rigidity for professional use and frequent rack handling in data centre or studio installations.
Broad Motherboard Compatibility
This chassis supports a wide range of motherboard sizes, including SSI-EEB, SSI-CEB, E-ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX, allowing you to reuse existing boards or choose from many platforms for new builds. That flexibility makes it suitable for everything from compact single-socket systems to large workstation or server boards with multiple PCIe slots.
Eight Full-height Expansion Slots
The RM31-MINI provides 8 full-height PCI expansion slots, enabling multi-GPU, high-bandwidth networking, storage HBA, or other add-in cards in a single 3U chassis. It supports graphics cards up to 361 mm in length and 115-110 mm in width/height, so high-end GPUs can be installed for AI, rendering, or VDI workloads.
Advanced Cooling and Radiator Support
At the front, the chassis supports up to three 120 mm fans and liquid cooling radiators in 120 mm, 240 mm, or 360 mm sizes, giving strong airflow and options for powerful CPU or GPU loop configurations. Rear I/O fan mounts for two 60 mm units provide additional exhaust capability, helping maintain optimal internal temperatures under sustained load.
SFX / SFX-L power Supply Support
The RM31-MINI is designed for SFX and SFX-L power supplies, keeping the PSU compact to free space for cabling and airflow. With a maximum PSU length of 130 mm (when using the HDD cage), you can choose high-wattage SFX-L units while still fitting storage and cooling hardware comfortably.
Flexible Internal Storage Layout
Internally, the chassis offers up to 2× 3.5"/2.5" combo bays plus 1× dedicated 2.5" bay, allowing configurations such as 2× 3.5" HDDs plus 1× 2.5" SSD or up to 3× 2.5" drives. This layout suits typical OS-plus-data setups or small RAID groups without consuming front panel space or expansion slots.
Front I/O and Status Indicators
On the front panel, you get 2× USB 3.0 Type-A ports and 1× USB 3.0 Type-C port, providing fast access for peripherals and removable storage in a rack environment. Power, HDD activity, and LAN activity LEDs give at-a-glance system status, useful in noisy racks where direct console access is limited.
Thermal and Component Clearances
The chassis supports CPU coolers up to 110 mm in height, accommodating many tower-style or top-flow coolers that match the short-depth layout. Combined with GPU length support up to 361 mm and the 360 mm radiator option, it balances compact dimensions with room for powerful components.
