Product Overview

Ubiquiti UniFi Pro HD 24 PoE++ Layer 3 Smart Managed Switch

The UniFi Pro HD 24 PoE++ is a high-performance Layer 3 smart-managed switch engineered for enterprise, AV, and advanced network environments that require both high-speed connectivity and power delivery at the access layer. With a dense 24-port PoE++ layout, multiple 10G uplinks, and Etherlighting™ support, it delivers combined data and power distribution, intelligent traffic control, and physical-layer visibility for modern networks. Rack-mountable in a 1U SGCC steel chassis with DC power backup support, the Pro HD 24 PoE++ is built for continuous operation and managed through a centralised interface.

High-Density PoE++ Port Layout & Uplink Flexibility

The switch features 22 × 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports and 2 × 10 GbE RJ45 ports, all supporting PoE++, alongside 4 × 10G SFP+ ports for fibre uplinks or high-speed aggregation. This port mix supports multi-gig access for powered devices such as wireless access points, cameras, and AV endpoints, while maintaining fast uplinks for distribution or core connectivity as network demands grow.

600W PoE Budget & Features

The Pro HD 24 PoE++ provides a total PoE power budget of 600W, supporting PoE (15.4W), PoE+ (30W), and PoE++ (up to 64W per port) across all 24 RJ45 ports. This allows high-power devices to be deployed without external injectors or midspans, simplifying rack layouts and centralising power delivery for access-layer hardware.

Advanced Layer 2 & Layer 3 Networking Features

As a fully managed Layer 3 switch, the Pro HD 24 PoE++ supports DHCP server and relay functions, inter-VLAN routing, and static routing for segmented local networks. Layer 2 features include LACP port aggregation, STP/RSTP, DSCP-based QoS, IGMP snooping with advanced multicast configuration, 802.1X access control, ACLs, port isolation, and jumbo frames, enabling predictable traffic behaviour and secure device access. Integrated Pro AV profiles support Play, Dante, Q-SYS, NDI, SDVoE, Shure, AES67, and Crestron deployments.

Scalable Tables for Growing Networks

The switch supports up to 1,000 VLANs, maintains a MAC address table of 32,000 entries, and handles 12,000 IPv4 routes with 12,000 ARP entries, providing headroom for growing, segmented networks. Access control lists include 128 IPv4 and 128 MAC-based entries, while traffic management features such as egress rate limiting, flow control, and multicast/broadcast rate limiting help maintain stability as powered endpoints scale.

Intelligent Power & Etherlighting™ Support

Powered by an internal 660W AC/DC power supply with DC power backup support, the Pro HD 24 PoE++ delivers high-density PoE while consuming 60W excluding PoE output. Etherlighting™ adds ARGB-style illumination to Ethernet and SFP+ ports, providing colour-coded visual feedback for link speed, VLAN assignment, and port status. This makes cable tracing, port identification, and power verification faster and more intuitive in dense, PoE-heavy racks.

Enterprise-Grade Hardware & Reliability

The switch is housed in a rugged SGCC steel chassis, weighs 6.2 kg without mounting brackets, and supports rack depths from 600 to 1,200 mm. It operates reliably in temperatures from -5 to 40°C with 10–90% non-condensing humidity, and includes a 1.3-inch touchscreen LCM for local monitoring and status checks.

It’s good to talk, but the way in which we get in touch with each other is changing. When once a letter, or a phone call over a shared line were the only ways to keep in touch with friends and relatives, there is now e-mail, instant messaging and text messages. The humble telephone isn’t sitting idly by, however. Telephony is evolving and it is using the Internet to keep up with the competition.

Home Networking
Date Issued: 26th Oct 2006

As a growing number of homes contain more than one computer, their users must find ways to network them. The primary purpose for creating a home network tends to be to provide Internet access to all computers within the house. There are other good reasons, however. These include enabling LAN gaming, data backups from one machine to another and the sharing of music within the home.
