256GB Samsung SM961 Polaris M.2 NVMe, MLC V-NAND, SSD PCIe 3.0 x4 Read 3100 MB/sec Write 1400 MB/sec 330k IOPS OEM is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightning Fast SSD Product works as expected. An M.2 NVMe SSD will feel lightning fast in comparison to a SATA SSD. Would highly recommend spending the extra amount. The difference is comparable to going from a HDD to SSD!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and affordable A great little drive, installed in my new system (ryzen 1600x, msi b350 tomahawk arctic) as a boot drive. Its fast, even compared to my old 840 evo. I would definitely recommend this drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good speed improvement for audio workstation Installed directly onto slot on ASUS Z270-A Motherboard with intel i7 7700k processor. Install and OS boot time very quick indeed. I mainly use the computer as an audio workstation. Cubase absolutely loves this setup, giving massive increase in speed and processing potential compared to previous builds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very simple but worthy upgrade. Easy to fit and configure on my motherboard and a noticeable improvement on speed when compared to a regular SSD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast boot drive It's a proper NVMe Solid State Drive (not sata), so it is very fast (Read 3100 MB/sec Write 1400 MB/sec). You need the Samsung NVMe driver and a motherboard with PCI Express generation 3 (or above) to get the very best out of it. However, even using a motherboard with PCI Express generation 2 (using Samsung NVMe driver) it is still pleasingly fast. There is no case to buy a sata SSD as a boot drive when NVMe totally blows away sata, and only costs a little more. There is virtually no depreciation on NVMe Solid State Drives. You can sell if for what you paid for it when you want to upgrade (to something bigger). The 256gb seem fine and plenty big enough as a boot disk with the operating system and other essential files.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speed, quality, value. I did a lot of research before purchasing an M.2 SSD. At the time this one was one of the fastest and also happened to be one of the cheapest 256GB drives. It is great price per GB for the phenomenal speeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My precious... What can I say? Does what is suppose to do, this precious of mine. CrystalDiskMark 3500mb/s seq reading and 1900mb/s writing (empty) 3300mb/s seq reading and 1800mb/s writing (1/3 full) Not too shabby for a budget 256GB NVMe SSD? And SM961 is an MLC, which makes things even better. Samsung really went far with this one. Just don't forget you need an M2 that can provide 3.0 PCIe x4 or you will see lower speeds. And be careful when installing, as it is very tiny (half the size of a memory module) and fragile. Don't know about BIOS, but UEFI sees and recognises the the drive perfectly fine, no need for a driver or whatnot (Asus Maximus VIII). I love it, Windows 10 loves it, the heavy caching games (e.g. WoW) love it as well. There is only one problem with that drive, its PCB is green. So, if you need something more stylish, there is always 960 EVO with a nice black and stylish PCB, but somewhat lesser capacity and speeds. Don't be pushed off by the fact the SM961 is an OEM, who cares about what Samsung Magician shows us. As one of the people here stated, you can download Samsung's NVMe controller driver, which installs perfectly, although it does not make much of a difference in terms of speeds, as you can still use the generic windows driver absolutely fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from probably the best upgrade I will make this year Installed on an older p67 i5 system in a gen 2 slot and still clocking 3000mbs read and 1400mbs write. Using it for a game drive and it has improved performance of games immensly.

No, but screw or clip for M.2 socket should come with the motherboard (in the screw bag - M4 screw I think).
