A motherboard’s main job is to act as a conduit between the various hardware elements that make up a PC. It needs to be able to link the desired CPU(s), system memory, graphics card, hard drive(s), and add-in cards and enable them to work in harmony.

256GB Samsung SM961 Polaris M.2 NVMe, MLC V-NAND, SSD PCIe 3.0 x4 Read 3100 MB/sec Write 1400 MB/sec 330k IOPS OEM is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from probably the best upgrade I will make this year Installed on an older p67 i5 system in a gen 2 slot and still clocking 3000mbs read and 1400mbs write. Using it for a game drive and it has improved performance of games immensly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast SSD but IMHO overkill for home users Using it as a system drive for Windows 10. Initially tried to install Windows 7 but it wasn't plug and play job. And after installation Windows 7 did not feel smooth as expected, so ended up on Windows 10 upgrade. Samsung Magician benchmark reports about 1820MB/s read and 1520MB/s. Overall for home users I think such speeds are not necessary and I would recommend to go for cheaper drives (I would if I knew before). But I really wanted to try M.2 type drive as motherboard I'm using has a slot for it plus it's a massive space saver which for me is important.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive!!! I have bought that M.2 SSD and I don't regret at all! Using it on ASUS Maximus VIII Gene mobo, hooked on the PCI-E x4 slot with ASUS Hyper M.2 X4 MINI Expansion Card. If you are using that expansion card do not forget to place the jumper on 1-2 position for M.2 mode! My tests results are: As SSD Seq speed Read - 2784.83, Write - 1458.41 MB 4k - Read - 60.90, Write - 212.18 MB/s Total score 4038 Some people might think that there is big driver issue, because that drive is OEM and there is no official support from Samsung at their website, but that is not really like that :) You can install Samsung NVMe driver from Samsung 960 EVO Support page ;) Cheers to SCAN for the fast service again and to Samsung for the best bang for the buck! All rest of you, enjoy your new M.2 drives :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, easy to install but takes some time to tweak. Less space than your typical hard drive but let's be honest, your not buying this for storage your buying this for speed. This SSD will not disappoint in the speed department. I was actually getting slightly higher read and write speeds than specified. Windows boots up in mere seconds along with most other applications too depending on how heavy they are. This is the best SSD I've owned to date, best upgrade for you money, especially when time is of the essence. I highly recommend it for those video editors, photographers and even gamers out there. I will only use this for my O.S. and other important applications. I wish I could afford a larger drive such as the 500GB or 1TB model but far too costly for myself right now.
