The SK hynix SL308 SSD delivers a superior blend of performance, reliability and value that take your everyday computing to the next level. Based on the premium quality TLC flash and high speed controller, this SSD delivers substantial random/sequential speed for read and write operation over SATA III interface. Your notebook/desktop PC will experience a new life, with faster system startup/shutdown, reduced programs loading time and smoother system responsiveness. The low power usage enables longer battery life on notebook and Ultrabook. Along with the vibration resistance and quiet operation inherent in SSD technology, the SK hynix SL308 will change how you feel about everyday computing.
A Superior PC Experience In addition to enhanced performance, an SK hynix SL308 upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability.
TRIM Support The SK hynix SL308 offers native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and up. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
S.M.A.R.T. Technology The SK hynix SL308 adopts Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) which enables the PC to predict the future failure of hard disk drives. Through the SMART system, hard disk drives incorporate a suite of advanced diagnostics that monitor the internal operations of a drive and provide an early warning for many types of potential problems. When a potential problem is detected, the hard drive can be repaired or replaced before any data is lost or damaged. The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

SSD 250GB replacment for 500GB HDD?A slow spinning laptop 500GB HDD was a catalyst for a discussion: New HDD or New laptop? A quick data usage showed a 250 GB SSD would be ideal value and speed boost - no need for an expensive new SSD based laptop. Cloned the slow spinning to the new SSD, restored the SSD to factory, service packed the OS - Simples! Owner very happy!

Absolute bargain SSDI used this SSD in a build for a client and I was so impressed with it I used it again in another one. While I know Hynix for their RAM this is the first time I went with a non-SanDisk or OCZ SSD and for £60 the performance is awesome. If you want one as a boot disk I'd recommend the 120GB variant, but this happily took a fully updated Windows 7 install, WoW, and League of Legends with room to spare. I'd suggest pairing with a HDD though, as 250GB will fill up with documents etc.
