The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

1TB WD Blue SN550, M.2 (2280) PCIe 3.0 (x4) NVMe SSD, 2400MB/s Read, 1950MB/s Write, 410k/405k IOPS is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and quick to use The included heatsink just lifts off and no way of securing it except the one fixing screw. I ended up using a zip tie to hold it flush although not sure how much good it is. Otherwise I have no complaints run quick and quiet

Rated 5 out of 5 by from suh fast Excellent NVMe SSD, only thing got me stumped is BIOS update required to run this thing as it freezes your system just after post

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good so far Benchmarked using CrystalDiskMark, came out as per specs. Works fine in my build as shown at bottom; am running as my Windows C: (boot) drive un-partitioned. Realise there are minimal gains over a SATA SSD in most situations but this NVMe was on offer at almost price parity with the equivalent SATA, so no brainer. After using it for a week for gaming and web surfing, powering it up every day, I would say it's not noticeably quicker than my other SATA SSD systems. Note: on older motherboard chipsets (i.e. non X570) it does knockout 2 SATA slots, so if you have lots of legacy drives you may want to stick to a SATA SSD. Final build (+scan codes): MSI B450 tomahawk max - LN100730 AMD Ryzen 3600 - LN99201 Corsair 3200 DDR4 LPX 2 sticks total 16GB Ryzen - LN82180 - not QVL but they work! WD Blue N550 Nvme 1 TB - LN101870 - not QVL but it works! Old PSU: Bequiet 630W bronze

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1TB WD Blue SN550, M.2 (2280) PCIe 3.0 (x4) NVMe SSD : amazing performance speed up 1TB WD Blue SN550, M.2 (2280) PCIe 3.0 (x4) NVMe SSD : Installed Ubuntu onto this and it now fully boots from off in 25 seconds. Game loads etc are also much faster than from HD. With 1TB I no longer need an HDD. Note that there are PCIe and non-PCIe M.2 slots - this must go into a PCIe M.2 slot. Also motherboards that support M.2 PCIe use up X4 PCIe lanes (so 1 less X4 PCIe for something else). I also like the way it is firmly bolted to the motherboard - no chance of it coming loose.
