The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

System Noise Reduction
Date Issued: 5th Mar 2007

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Very quiet Good airflow and very quiet, you'll have difficulty believing they're running but they are! 05 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very low noise, good build quality. Have Ten of these running in my loop and no noise what so ever in an ambient room. 06 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great customer service Delivered quickly and great support during the delivery process. The fans are super quiet and fitting was easy. 11 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good replacement. Very good replacement to the standard case fans I had. Paired up with my Radiators is super cool. 27 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Fans For Game Rig Bought 6 of these fans for my £2,000 rig I have built they are Excellent and Quiet when used with Asus motherboard fan controler. If yo are looking for fans for a new or old PC these are what you are looking for. 10 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quiet & effective The fans are doing a good job of keeping my H100i & it's associated AMD FX9590 chip happy. Although I haven't tested this setup on prime (a proper test), after a couple of hours of rendering 1080 AVC video (a real world test), the maximum temperature shown by Core Temp was 39C. 02 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great The built quality is superb. There is no bearing noise like the SP120L fans that came stock on my H100i. They look great too. They spin at a minimum of about 350RPM, as apposed to the 550RPM of the stock H100i fans, so they are great if you want to squeeze every bit of silence you can get when idling. They also perform good under load. Not as well as the stock fans, but they is to be expected as they have essentially for half the overall RPM. If you don't mind 550-600RPM (which is about the minimum of the stock H100i fans and the Performance Edition PWM SP120 fans) then I'd recommend going for the Performance Edition PWM SP120 fans. The PWM control means you can still get them to be really quiet, but can also have them really ramp up if your CPU gets to something like 80-90C. 27 January 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Corsair Quality once again had a pair of these for my H100 AIO when I upgraded to a H105 I bought this 2nd pair so I now have 4 working in push/push they are as advertised effective and quiet at full speed 26 July 2014

basically motherboards come with 2 types of fan headers 3 pin and 4 pin 4pin headers like on most modern Asus Boards like my z97 Deluxe means if you connect a 4 pin fan like these you can alter the speed by software like AI Suite 3.

With a 3 pin fan the only way to alter the speed was by plugging in a "reducer cable" between the fan connector and the motherboard however alot of Asus boards now allow you to alter the speed of a 3 pin fan in the Bios by altering the voltage in a way much more tuneable than a "reducer cable"

It would help if I knew the make and model of your motherboard
