Product Overview

Need More Space?

This external SINGLE enclosure offers space for a total of ten SATA I/II/III HDDs. It consists mainly of steel and is therefore stable and dissipates heat particularly well. The cooling of the drives is supported by one big 140 mm fan on the rear and corresponding air intakes inside the doors of the drive bays at the front. The enclosure's doors are individual lockable.

The LEDs of the IB-3810U3 continuously inform you about the operation and disk usage. As a huge data storage, this SINGLE system can present his full functionality and the external USB 3.0 interface with UASP support enables the possibility to use HDDs without any size limitation.

Comfortable Setup

The capabilities of the IB-3810U3 include various convenient functions. For example the toolless HDD installation, the energy-saving standby mode, the HotSwap ability, Plug & Play and support for both Windows and MAC systems

Trust Is Good, Control Is Better

The locks on each HDD tray offer security and protection from accidental removal of the hard drives. They may instead be switched on and off individually with the power buttons on each tray. The LEDs displays additionally show the status of each HDD.

If Things Are Heating Up

The enclosure is made mostly of steel and is therefore robust and dissipates heat particularly well. The cooling of the drives in heavy operation is furthermore guaranteed by a large 140 mm fan on the back.

10 Bay ICY BOX External Single System, For 10x SATA 3.5" I/II/III Hard Drives, Hot Swap, 140mm Fan, Steel, Black is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good use for spare drives. Good item for any spare hard drives that you have, but you cannot set up any raid arrays.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 10 Bay Icy Box - Good, when it works I have populated this 10 Bay Icy Box with 7 various sized HDDs of varying makes and models. First issue is getting the PC to initialise and recognise the HDD contents. I have tried numerous start-up routines, from all on to trying each HDD one by one. So far, I haven't found the key; just perseverance. When it works, it is a great piece of kit. File transfer is as fast as the particular HDD will allow. In short, this 10 Bay Icy Box saves a huge amount of cables and power supplies, if you have a disparate group of HDDs. Recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly reliable, good value I was looking for a simple JBOD hub to use for archiving and backup purposes with my Mac Mini, and after having tried several other models—all of which I returned for the same reason (drives ejecting randomly)—I finally settled on this unit. I liked it so much I ended up buying two! PROS • High number of disk bays (10). • Individual on/off power button for each bay. • Differently from lots of other similar units, this one has never triggered an unwanted random drive ejection. • Good performance via USB3. CONS • Has occasionally crashed the system, forcing it to restart. I don't know what causes this to happen exactly, but it has only happened twice. I'd say 95% of the time it works flawlessly. • Cooling fan is somewhat noisy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's not RAID Should have read the capabilities. You get 10 individual drives. As it's USB connected, you can't even span or extend across multiple disks. :( It does, however perform very well and I have no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality, pleased with product, reliable, operates well, stable and performant Metal good quality, well engineered excellent reliable performance on USB 3.0 attached to a freenas (bsd Unix) using software raid6 icy box is good kit, slightly pricy but worth it. Using 5 out of 10 slots each drive has power on / off button and activity status lights. Blue is powered and blue/purple shows write activity. Cooling is good and silent, plenty of internal airflow

What is this?

Hi Can you tell me if this device is just a storage extension for a Windows PC (and MAC) with Windows Disk Management providing all of the format/partition functons etc, so any disks it contains are displayed as File Explorer drive/drives? I am not looking for NAS storage just an extension of Windows storage. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Yes - This is a DAS enclosure Direct Attached Storage The hard drives are displayed in windows explorer Word of warning, not just about this unit but all external enclosures: Set up the hard drive connected directly to the motherboard. If anything goes wrong with this or any other external enclosure and you set the drive up inside said device it may not be recognised when you connect it elsewhere (motherboard or other external device) = lost data. Its not necessary to start with a clean drive, you should hopefully be able to plug in existing drives subject to above proviso.

Does Windows still control power for the indidual drives?

Does Windows 10 control the power for the individual drives i.e. if using one drive to steam a movie to a media server does windows then shut down the power to the other after a period of inactivity in the same way it does for drives connected direct to the motherboard? Many thanks in advance :-)
