What is ThermalProtect?

The CORSAIR ThermalProtect PCIe 5.1 cable is designed to ensure maximum reliability and safety of graphics cards powered by the 12V-2x6 connection standard. This is achieved with the inclusion of an OTP (Over Temperature Protection) module built into the cable itself, monitoring temperatures and ensuring safe operation. In short, if the cable detects excess heat while in operation, power is cut to the GPU to prevent any damage.

ThermalProtect compatibility

ThermalProtect is included in the box with the latest RMe range of CORSAIR power supplies. If you’ve recently upgraded before the launch of the new RMe, fear not! CORSAIR ThermalProtect cables are not locked into use with RMe units and instead have a wide range of compatibility; the only requirement is a native 12V-2x6 connection to plug the cable in.

Won't it make my system ugly with bulky controllers?

Not at all. The OPT module is hiding in plain sight! Rather than a bulky external controller, ThermalProtect cables embed the module in the cable comb instead to keep the system looking as good as it performs.
