Scan FAi Silent DAW with Intel i7 7700 and 16GB
Scan FAi Silent
In the ideal world, you would find yourself working in a studio with separate mixing and recording rooms and dedicated racks full equipment and your computer system hidden out of both view and earshot. However in the real world the isn't always the room for this amount of separation and for anyone who needs to work in a small recording space, alongside highly sensitive microphones which may prove prone to picking up machine noise, the holy grail of recording systems has to be completely silent, whilst still being fully capable of getting the session done.
With this in mind we offer a number of silent systems and the FAi Silent Edition is our first ready to ship silent PC system. With no moving parts in the base configuration, passive coolers and SSD's for storage, the is simply nothing in this system capable of making noise and interrupting your session.
The FAi Silent edition is based around a i7 7700 quad core with Hyper-threading from the latest Intel Kaby lake CPU range, running at 3.6GHz with a 4.2GHz turbo, which will offer enough performance for many recording, tracking and editing scenarios making this a great fit for many small project and home studios.
During our initial in house validation phase we test with all of the popular audio sequencers including industry leaders such as Cubase, Pro Tools, Sonar, Studio One, Reaper, Ableton & Bitwig to ensure the widest compatibility straight out of the box, meaning that you set it up with your audio interface & software of choice and be ready to go with the absolute minimum of fuss.
To install your applications on, we include a fast Samsung Evo 250GB SSD, which comes with your OS on and is ideal for running your sequencer and projects from, along with an additional 1TB SSD for storage and sample libraries. Of course many users wish to migrate over older project drives or prefer to make sure that additional storage can be added the future as required, so we made sure that this case has 5 more drive bays, making it extremely easy to accommodate any future storage expansions that you may wish to carry out. Please do be aware however that by adding in any mechanical hard drives, the machine will cease to be silent.
Other key features include 16GB of Corsair memory, which is suitable for most typical projects although once again we've made sure to leave plenty of room for extra expansion, allowing you to expand in years to come. The system makes use of the inbuilt Intel graphics which supports 3 simultaneous outputs over Display port 1.2 / HDMI 1.4 / DVI-D allowing you plenty of output options and plenty of workspace to help optimize your workflow.
The ready to ship FAi Silent model is our most powerful silent configuration and fully capable of taking care of many recording and production requirements in any project studio.
A fast CPU translates to higher VST counts along with a smoother, more responsive experience whist you work. The FAi Silent includes a powerful Intel Core i7 7700 which has four cores running at 3.6GHz with a 4.2GHz turbo that delivers maximum performance when you need it.
Testing & Validation
By testing & validating with all of the major sequencers during the system design phase, we aim to ensure all the teething issues are worked out well before you receive it. This will help to ensure you get setup as smothly as possible and keep you productive by ensuring a great day to day experience.
Low noise levels are cruical in the studio enviroment where recording may be taking place, so all of our 3XS studio machines are designed around low noise components and quiet cases. This will help to ensure that you can mix and produce without distractions.
Lightning Fast Storage
Nobody likes waiting for their applications to load, so the FAi Silent includes an SSD instead of an old fashioned HDD. SSDs use sold-state memory, so you can boot into Windows, load applications and projects in a fraction of the time of a mechanical HDD.

WHY BUY BUILT?
Professionally Built PCs vs Self-Built
Anyone can build a PC, so what really makes the difference between any old PC and a 3XS PC? For starters, our team has been designing and building PCs for more than 20 years, so we have a huge amount of experience in building highly reliable systems that deliver the most performance for your budget. These are the benefits you receive when buying a professionally built 3XS system versus building a system yourself.
No Compatibility Headaches
It can take weeks to research the right combination of components, not just to ensure you get the most bang for your buck but to minimise the chance of one component being incompatible with another. Whether you buy a system from our configurator or a custom spec system our engineers will do all this hard work for you, ensuring that when your system is delivered it performs flawlessly.
Building a PC only takes a few hours, but installing all the software and making sure that everything is configured properly and that your software runs stably takes up a huge amount of time. By ordering a 3XS system our engineers take this painful process away, as all our systems undergo a strenuous Quality Control procedure which includes updating Windows, installing the latest drivers and motherboard BIOS. Overclocked systems receive an additional 24 hour burn-in test to ensure stability.
Peace of Mind
Unfortunately PC components do occasionally fail, and when this happens if you’ve built your PC yourself you’re on your own. However, with a professionally built Scan 3XS system you’re no longer alone. Our technical support team is available 7 days a week, from 9am to 10pm Mon - Fri, 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Click here for more info on how to get technical support for your 3XS system.
If our support team is unable to fix your system remotely and it’s still under warranty we’ll either send out an engineer to visit your home or office or repair it or have it repaired in our state of the art factory in Lancashire.
A Work of Art
We don't just build PCs in our state-of-the-art factory, we craft them. For instance, we route and tidy all the cables around the sides of the case. This not only makes your PC look great and easier to upgrade in the future, but eases airflow through the case resulting in a cooler and quieter PC. In addition, we can customise your PC for you, not just the components inside but also its appearance, so if you fancy a PC in an unusual shape or colour we look forward to hearing from you.
Our 3XS PCs have won hundreds of awards in the press from publications such as Custom PC, Develop3D, Expert Reviews, HEXUS, PC Gamer and PC Pro. In addition 3XS has won Custom PC’s annual Dream PC competition every year it has run since 2007. You can read all our reviews here plus customer reviews on the configurator.
Sometimes you just need a system right now. Maybe your existing system has kicked the bucket or you’ve found that your old workhorse can’t hope with the latest game or application you just bought. F-series systems are pre-built and tested in our factory, so can be collected same day or delivered next-day to your home or office.
Warranty & Technical Support
Another key difference is that all Scan 3XS Custom Series PCs are covered by our Premium 3 Year Warranty. This means that if your system develops a fault in its first year we can send an engineer to your home or office to repair it. In the remaining two years of the warranty we'll still repair or replace any faulty parts, but do this from our state of the art factory in Lancashire.
