Product Overview Looking for the fastest drive in the market but already have software? Then the BDR-209DBK is the drive for you. The BDR-209DBK drive is perfect for system builders, for those looking to upgrade to a fast Blu-ray burner, or for those who already have software.

The BDR-209DBK is an internal SATA drive. It can burn up to 16x on BD-R (25GB) media and up to 14x on BD-R dual layer (50GB) media, which is the fastest in the market! The drive is also backwards compatible, so it can read and write to most DVD and CD formats. Click on the "Specifications" tab to see all supported media formats, as well as the read and write speeds achievable.

Want to watch Blu-ray 3D titles? Well the BDR-209DBK drive is 3D capable. All you need is 3D playback software and a 3D display system and you're ready to go.

Running out of hard drive space? Afraid of losing your valuable files when your hard drive crashes? With Blu-ray BD-R dual layer (DL) discs, you can store the equivalent of 10 single layer DVDs. Now you can have a backup you can trust and with fewer discs.

The BDR-209DBK drive has features such as a QuickPlay which enables movies discs to be ready faster, a Noise Suppression design to minimize noise, an Anti-Dust design to increase durability, and Precision Writing Technology to minimize write errors. And of course being a Pioneer drive, the BDR-209DBK drive supports a wide range of blank media. Features Faster burning
16x Blu-ray burner! Pioneer can now achieve up to 16x writing on BD-R media and up to 14x on BD-R Dual Layer (DL) discs.

Watch 3D movies
The drive is 3D capable. All you need is 3D playback software and a 3D display system.

Play movies faster
The amount of time between inserting a movie disc, and that disc being ready has been reduced. For movies on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, the disc is ready faster when compared to the BDR-208DBK.

A quieter drive
The tray cushion and the top cover of the BDR-209DBK has been designed to reduce disc rotation noise.

Increased life expectancy
The sound barrier design that traps noise inside the drive also works to keep dust outside the drive. This makes the drive much more dust resistant and drive failure due to dust is practically nonexistent.

Wide blank media support
Pioneer strives to have best in class performance over a wide range of media – our drives achieve this for a large variety of BD and DVD media. Refer to the drive’s media support list for all supported media and the write speed that can be achieved.

Top quality writing
Our chassis' design maximizes disc stability and write quality by reducing warping at high speed caused by disc vibration, especially on the outer areas of the disc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent product Very happy with purchase. Easy set up and installation after making the mistake of purchasing an internal drive and not an external drive as intended. Was able to remove DVD drive and use the lead connector for Pioneer as the device also comes without connections. Only flaw worth noting. Speed is great and after using for over a month I'm very happy with purchase. Delivery was very quick and transaction was very smooth. Will use Scan for future purchases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product worked well with all media I used A great drive which works well with all of the media I have used. If this is a first time purchase, the lack of software may be a detractor as most drives are sold with basic writing software. As this was an upgrade I was impressed on all accounts by its speed, accuracy and compatibility with the media I used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What great value This dual layer BDR was such great value, I did not hesitate in buying it. That coupled with it being a Pioneer. The only issue I've had is it does not support CD-R, but most system done these days.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'm sure this product is wonderful when it works. I must have been unlucky Had 2 units and neither would reliably burn DVD's. At first things looked good as I managed to successfully burn 2 Blu-Ray's. I next attempted a DVD but it failed with error code 52102. Thinking it was a faulty disc I tried another DVD disc but got the same error code but in a different place during the burn. I tried a 3rd disc this time a different make of DVD blank. Still failed. The 2 Blu-ray's were from RPA. The first 2 DVD's were from RPA. The 3rd DVD was a Verbatim disc. The project for my test burns was one that I had successfully burnt discs many times before on the replaced LG drive. I next tried a CD and this was successful. I called customer services and they said check the firmware which I found was already the latest. I tried again with another different blank (Maxell) but failed with the same error. Called customer services again who gave me an RMA return code. Received 2nd unit and found it had exactly the same problems. Started to suspect a problem with the Gigabyte GA-Z68 mother board/SATA bus so tried another make of burner and had no problems at all. So after returning both units I am now £8.45 out of pocket for return postage but with a fully functioning ASUS drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money As this was the cheapest available BDR drive at the time of purchase, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it can write 25 GB data, and how reliable it is. I would recommend this as a first BD drive.
