Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

NZXT Sentry Mesh 5 Channel 30W Fan Controller 5.25" Black is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Noisy resistors I bought this product as I didn't have enough fan connectors and I wanted to set my chassis fans to min or max without software. For this the Sentry Mesh works fine, but if I was to set a channel to say 70% it makes a horrible noise, I believe someone else said it was coming from the resistors? If you only want min/max for when not gaming/gaming then the Sentry Mesh is fine and it is worth the money, but if you want to fine tune the fans between 40% and 100% I wouldn't recommend this due to the loud noise from the resistors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy cheep capacitors Fan controllers are designed to allow a user to adjust fan speeds in the pursuit of a quieter PC. The one I have bought here however has a terrible amount of capacitor noise (on every channel) when ever the fans are not set to either minimum or maximum. Annoyingly I have in the past bought other controllers with arguably better features that, at around the same price point, did not have this problem. As such I can't honestly recommend these products. I will be aiming to return for a refund/replacement in the near future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good All Rounder This product came to me well packaged and undamaged from Scan . The sentry Mesh fitted positively into my Switch 810 Tower and had ample wire length to wire manage to rear of my tower . ( Not easy with a large tower. ) The sliders were positive and at 30 watts a channel ample power too for the fans . The Slider controls make it simple to adjust fan speed , although , a down side would be that you can see through the front facia into the tower . I would have liked a closed facia but just my preferences. All in all a positive Fan controller and I am happy to recommend this to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality 5 header fan control Bought for a CoolerMaster HAF-XM case, fits well in the 5.25" bay (takes up one slot) and you can get away with it looking pretty good on cases with small mesh detailing. The sliders don't feel tacky and its pretty quiet (some electrical buzz from the resistors). The little white LED under the NZXT logo may not suit your taste if you're building an immaculate/themed rig, but I'm sure it could be altered if it interferes with your aesthetics. Has five 3 pin headers capable of controlling fans from about 40% to 100%, which is fine for my use: I'm running two top 200mm fans and a side 200mm fan on it for general airflow (with the front/cpu/rear controlled by the motherboard instead) It was a solid purchase, even if in future I might switch to splitters from the motherboard to take advantage of fan utility software for the entire case

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product at a great price This fan controller works beautifully and blends in nicely with a mesh fronted case such as my Scout 2, the control allows the fans to work at a range of RPM's with the lowest being pretty much silent and the highest being what you's expect. The slider controls feel sturdy and the unit on a whole is build very well. I only have two complaints with the controller. The first of these is the white LED which is always on when the PC is powered. This LED ruins any sort of stealth look on the case, although could be removed. The second issue is the quality of the cable management on the unit when it arrived. There wasn't any. it took me a good few minutes to untangle the cables before installation. otherwise this is a really solid unit at a very good price. I would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what is says. If you need to control your fans, and have a panel covering the front of your case, then I highly recommend this. It's low profile design allows you to fit it behind a front panel, it's not as fancy as some other options available, but it does it's job perfectly, and is well priced. My one complaint is that it doesn't have an "off" feature, but if your fan is still spinning at 4V then it's going to be silent anyway. It's simple, well priced, good quality, and functional. Can't say better than that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient flush-mounted fan controller I bought this for an NZXT H230 chassis, which - like any chassis with a door - needs devices mounted in the bays to be flush with the front (quite a few fan controllers fall down here, as they usually have one or more dials sticking out). It is easy to adjust, and the cabling is convenient (single molex power, 5 numbered male 3-pin fan connectors, with ~8" or so of cable on each).

Questions & Answers

Will this do standard and also PWM fans?

I just need to know this can control either type of fan, or get a recommendation for a flat-facing controller like this. My case is a silent case with soundproofing, so I cannot have knobs etc sticking out.
