Chassis Airflow
Date Issued: 20th Oct 2008

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A large case that gives plenty of room to build Bought this to replace my ageing and slightly damaged Antec 900 case, having recently crammed a full ATX mainboard in there for the first time in a few core replacements. Getting everything to fit required an almost complete tear-down of the machine, and I decided to shop around for something that would be less painful to assemble next time. Cue the Phantom 530. The move from the Antec 900 to the Phantom 530 was quick and easy. The cable management features of the Phantom are good, and the overall quality of the case is fantastic. I am, a couple of weeks on, getting a slight vibration noise from somewhere but if I'm gaming it's not loud enough to be noticeable. I'll pin it down and tighten whichever screw isn't quite locked down. I would say that the case is big, mainly wide - wider than it looked in the pictures, anyway. Not really a problem for me, but if you're moving from a fairly standard mid-tower case to this, check the actual dimensions to make sure you have enough room. 17 September 2014
