Chassis Airflow
Chassis Airflow

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by easily scratched I returned it as it wasn't a good substitute to the one on wanted. It does not have a single DP port, which is just one of many issues. The door is rather unnecessary. Fingerprints everywhere, it's not my cup of tea. 05 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good quality, and effective noise damping This is a good case to work with, and it feels well designed and built. The cable management cut-outs are conveniently sited, and the large cut out behind the CPU cooler bracket is a great help. If fitting the 4th fan in the bottom of the chassis, I would recommend getting a grille to mount on the inside, as this is also where PSU cables will naturally settle. The case can accomodate a deep PSU, but with the extra fan a shallow, modular one is advantageous. A couple of minor niggles: - Stated max cooler height is 158mm; but the 157mm tall Phanteks is actually slightly too tall (it fits, but only by pressing into the sound-absorbing padding) - The depth behind the motherboard for cables is marginally shallower than ideal; if you run the main ATX power cable behind there you need to make sure it doesn't cross anything else - The drive carriers, while excellent for 3.5" disks, can sag and therefore become loose with 2.5" disks. 31 March 2014
