Rated 5 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A really solid performer for the cost. Got this CPU as an upgrade to my aging FX-8350 which is slowing dying after running at 5GHz for a few years now. After putting this is there even on stock clocks it was a significant upgrade destroying benchmarks like no tomorrow. I then gave it a bit of OC’ing, Final result 4.6Ghz not to shabby in the silicon lottery then. But at these speeds it did get a bit toasty on the old H100i, 72C on full load. At these speed I chucked a few benches at it again. Passmark 15894, Handbrake 552 and Cinebench 1172. Very impressive. Now on to a bit of gaming, no really any notable difference is most modern games as the multi core optimised and it the GPU that does the heavy lifting here. But Arma 3 gained about 10 FPS, World of tanks was about 50 FPS as it only uses 1 core and that is where to 8350 stains the bed. Overall a real power house of a CPU that will not disappoint the only down side is the price tag. 09 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent CPU if you need the extra PCI-E lanes Great CPU, 6 Core i7 runs everything very fast under Windows 10. Recommended if you more than 28 lanes on 5830K. Running 2 x 980 Ti and still have bandwidth for 2 x Samsung M2 SSD 23 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My first Intel I must say the performance difference from an AMD to an Intel is astonishing. I went from an AMD 8350 (overclocked to 4.6Ghz) to this CPU running at stock speeds, and yet the i7 outperforms the AMD by an massive margin. I won't ever go back to AMD now (bare in mind AMD are still great for the price). My experience in performance was during general use, programming and editing videos. But my other (higher %) reason for buying this CPU was for gaming and the performance increase is certainly noticeable. Higher frame rates and smoother play. The one thing I noticed with my AMD was occasionally during gameplay at specific or random sections of any game there would be huge frame rate drop (sometimes <20fps) for a second which was very annoying. Other people I have spoke with seem to have experienced similar issues but after purchasing this CPU I've not had this problem. The FPS is consistent throughout. 03 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by PC doesn't work without it Great CPU. Fits in the socket. Powers up. Runs stuff. 03 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a great processor This is a great processor, and is placed second highest in Intel’s table of current high end desktop processors. The price is good considering the top of the line i7-5960X will set you back about £800. It has 40 PCI Express lanes which means that you can add up to two graphics cards running on 16x lanes or up to four graphics cards running on 8x lanes; the more lanes the faster the data flow between the processor and the graphics card. I’ve managed to overclock this CPU in a stable state by about 11% according to the ASUS AI Suite 3 program. I’m not a very experienced overclocker and others have achieved better results. This processor does not come with a heatsink and fan. This should be expected since it is aimed at high end gamer PCs, and the people who spend this sort of money on a processor wouldn’t use a stock (standard) heatsink if one was supplied. Works well in my Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard with a Corsair H100i GTX 240mm radiator. 01 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome I Built a system with all parts ordered from Scan who delivered very promptly and were totally professional. I had one slight issue which their after sales support spotted immediately when I explained and they told me exactly how to correct the mistake I had made. Cannot fault Scan in either the sales process or the after sales service. The system I built was... Fractal Design Node 804, Corsair AX860i PSU, Panasonic UJ265 Slot Loading Blu Ray Writer, Gigabyte GA-x99M Motherboard, Intel cor 5930K, 32GB Corsair DDR4 2666mhz Vengance RAM, Corsair H100i Water Colling, Samsung SM951 for Boot Drive, 4TB Seagate Sata III for storage and Installs, and a DELL 34" Curved Screen. This system is absolutely awesome! 19 July 2015

Can I use 2400MHz DDR4 RAM with this processor?

I have already purchased 32GB of Dominator Platinum DDR4 2400MHz Memory for my new build however I notice that the Intel Core i7 5930K only supports up to 2133MHz. Will my 2400MHz memory work or just work at the lower frequency or even not at all?

Hi,
The RAM should just down clock by itself if not you can change the frequency in the BIOS.

Answer:
You shouldn't have any problems with this, however it probably won't be worth it as the difference will not be noticeable.

I would advise to stick with the 2133Mhz variant (if there are some) in which you should save some money and any instability issues you could come across.

Answer:
Hello,

It would all depend on what you were using the system for, faster memory would mean better performance in most cases however.

Thanks,

Answer:
Unless your using RAM DISK I don't think your really notice much difference, and even then you probably won't notice much at all.

My advice is stick to the maximum memory it states which is DDR4 - 2133Mhz.

If you do decide to go for then you will more than likely have to manually tweak the settings in the BIOS for the RAM speed to overclock efficiently however just be careful as it could cause a lot of instability issues if not done properly
