Take control with the 6th Generation Intel® Core™ processors codenamed “Skylake-S”. The i5 6600K is the flagship processor of the Skylake-S line-up that features exceptional performance that is increased by up to 22% and offers 6x faster storage bandwidth for quicker media access, all this means for an all-round more responsive PC. The ‘K’ prefix shows that this CPU is Unlocked and has overclocking enabled this is great news for extreme gamers and enthusiasts. Improved overclocking is supported on the 6600K when in conjunction with Z170 chipsets only, it uses the BCLK (base clock) overclocking feature.

Exceptional Performance
The Intel® Core™ i5 6600K boasts a 3.5 GHz base frequency and 3.9 GHz turbo frequency, the processor is also built on a 14 nm process, with a 91 W maximum TDP. The chip is a Quad-Core design with 4 threads. Integrated into the processor is Intel® HD Graphics 530 which delivers mainstream-level graphics with discrete-level performance and has full support for DirectX 12 API. Intel's 6600K is fully unlocked allowing you to tune performance and obtain higher frequencies when used with Intel 100 series chipsets. Previous generation Intel processors such as the Core i7 4790K processor used DDR3 memory, typically running at 1600 or 2133MHz. The Core i5 6600K has an enhanced memory controller that supports DDR4 memory, giving you a very healthy performance boost over DDR3.

Intel® Core™ i5 is a brand name applies to several families of desktop and laptops, The Core™ i5 brand targets the more mainstream markets for both desktop and laptop computers, and is distinguished from the entry-level Core™ i3 and the business and high-end consumer Core™ i7.

Dramatic Increase in Media & Graphics
Intel® HD Graphics 530 can easily deliver an amazing visual experience in resolutions all the way up to Ultra HD 4K, so you can make the most of 4K displays. The Intel® Core™ i5 6600K also has support for the latest graphics APIs such as DirectX 12, this means that you will be able to run mainstream games and apps up to 2x better graphics than previous generation processors. Intel® on-board graphics processor is up to 28% faster than previous generation GPUs.

Intel generally follows a tick-tock philosophy for new processor launches. The tick represents a shrinking of the manufacturing process - 32nm to 22nm, for example - while the tock is indicative of a new architecture based on the leading process of that time. This has been the case since 2007.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Reasonably fast for a k cpu without hyper threading Good cpu temps low with a Noctua in low profile cooler with next to no noise @ all. Both items do as they say on the tin so nor egrets cooler from elsewhere cpu from scan & usual quick on line service hassle free from scan. 04 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This CPU is pretty amazing This CPU is a fantastic processor, very fast and very cheap from Scan (£10-£20 saving at least). Pair this up with a decent Z170 board (I also bought the AsRock Z170 Fatality K4/D3) and they work so very well together. However These CPU's do NOT come with their own Heatsincs and Fans so you will need to provide your own cooling solution (which I already had from my 3570K). Best gaming chip around at the moment for price vs performance and will take a decent overclock ,out of the box is 3.5ghz but I have mine running a little higher at 4.2 and there is still a lot more room left 06 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great so far, runs cool & very easy overclock I got this and overclocked it to 4.4Ghz without any issues at all. Runs at 48c at 100% stress test for 12 hours, idles at 18c (water cooled h110i GT) 03 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by all you need for gaming got it quick and no issues installing it. it came in a little foam box which made me worry but it had no faults. 26 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by First Intel CPU Previously have had AMD processors from the K6-2 until the Phenom II 965. All i can say, is im blown away from single core performance and the sheer power compared to the AMD competitors. Also due to the lower power requirements of the processor as well. Yes could have gone with the previous Gen for the Intel processors, but wanted to make the most out of my new system though. With default settings with my re-used Corsair H80i, the idle temp is 22c and not seen it go above 30c whilst in a game. Although, i most likely would have stayed with AMD if they had something decent, what wasn't a part upgrade (Although, either case would have needed a new Motherboard) 17 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top-Notch Value Processor I have not had a lot of time to get to grips with this CPU but the time I have had has been flawless. It paired up with my R9 390 perfectly allowing for speedy editing, gaming or anything I have wanted to do. It performed well in both Cinebench and PCMark and runs very cool with the CM Hyper 212 EVO. The fact that it is a K-Series Chip allows for some good overclockability that I will be taking full advantage of in the near future. This should prolong the life of the chip significantly and also make it amiable for streaming. It was delivered promptly by SCAN and the ScanSure Insurance gave me piece of mind that I couldn't mess it up on my first build. All in all a great product, would recommend. 04 February 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Lucky on the binning? I knew this cpu was decent but with the new technologies it allows for it's a good upgrade from my 980x. It's sitting at 4.6Ghz with a 1.3v core and maxes out in the mid 50s with a Dark Rock Pro 3 inside a Core V21. Everything is quiet and thus far stable (been running it about a month now with varied loads). Seems to beat out the previous i5 Devil's Canyon in performance per clock and suits my desire for a quiet and powerful system. Nuff said. 26 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best cpu for gamming. I'm using this CPU with Asus Z170 PG and Samsung m.2 SSD and I'm really happy. Good, easy to overclock ( I'm using it with Noctua NH-D14 cooler) and way cheaper than i7 6700K. 04 January 2016
