Delivered as expected, with tracking confirmation and via DPD(credits to excellent delivery service by SCAN). The CPU is very powerful and runs most modern games with ease(very few exceptions require more than 4 cores at the time of writing this review). It has 4 cores and 4 threads which aid with multitasking as well and a clock of 3.5GHz to 3.9 in Turbo Boost mode. If you have a Z chipset motherboard and overclocking utilities (MSI,ASUS etc) then you can easily overclock this CPU to 4.7 GHz with a good air or water cooling unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rizz best chip for games
the question I get asked all the time is do I need an i5 or i7 for games, and im sure theres a few people debating between this and an i7, this chip is more than enough for games and handles everything I have thrown at it with ease. the only difference between the i5 and i7 is hyper threading which games cant use anyway and is really only needed for editing and cad work. so my advice would be buy the i5 and buy a decent aio cooler or a good fan cooler and overclock this as high as it will go, I have mine running 4.4ghz using a corsair h75 and at this speed the i5 is monster of a chip, it never hits 60c on load and sits around 38c on idle. i upgraded to the i5 from an fx 8350 and the intel destroys it in every way in my opinion, when games can use 6 or 8 cores amd might have the upper hand but for games the i5 is the chip to buy and will still last a few years, great chip great price highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by brianthesnail The best gaming processor around !
Buying a cpu for a gaming rig shouldnt cost the earth ... you could opt for a core i7 however that could eat up your budget quite significantly ..
however the Intel Core i5 4690K is a outstanding processor with everything a pc gamer would need ... this includes a 3.5ghz clock frequency and turbo to 3.9ghz,.. and you can overclock this baby to well above 4ghz .. this does depend on
1) cooler .. closed loop cpu coolers are best however many air coolers would be ok
2) motherboard ... a premium mobo is recommended as this has more advanced tweaking features and better stability
3) knowledge ... overclocking a cpu these days is much easier however you need a certain degree of overclocking ability to do this safely
the built in gpu is ok and much better than previous generations but a dedicated gpu is needed for serious pc gamers
overall the Intel Core i5 4690K is a must for any pc gaming build ... and if your into overclocking this is the cpu for you .. also throw in 3 free games and how can you not buy this processor .. its a no brainer !

Brilliant CPU. Paired with an R9 380 can play everything at ultra without sweating. With stock cooler on it never goes over 60C-62C while gaming.

Did have an AMD FX8350 at stock speeds before this CPU, only reason I changed to Intel is that AMD refuse to update their chipset which is now over 3 years old as I wanted M.2. etc. After reading about this CPU in the tech press I expected to be amazed, but truth is it's not that different from the 8350. Ok it uses less power and generates less heat that's true, but general day to day performance I'm hard pushed to tell any difference. This K version is unlocked so you can overclock it, nothing wrong with the CPU at all just not the difference (in comparison to the 8350) the tech press make it out to be.
Have used the I7 equivalent too which is a little better but you would expect that for another £100! This is probably the best Intel chip to get if you are a gamer but can't stretch to the I7.
If you have an 8350 and are considering switching and don't need the lower power draw or chipset features that Intel offer, wait for the all new Intel chips next year after Skylake and maybe AMD may pull something out of the bag too by then.
