Fractal Design Define R5 Black Mid Tower ATX/mATX/mini-ITX Computer Chassis with Window, USB 3.0, + Ultra Silent Design is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent case This is a great case. Very well laid out, plenty of room for two gpus and great cable management. Looks good too. The only very slight niggle and I mean slight, is that the case is a little flexible with the side panels off. With the panels on, it is more than adequate. Something to be aware of as well is the limited space for water cooling radiators. Some will fit, others won't. Don't get the wrong idea, I love this case, just be aware of these two points.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Case I've Used The case is excellently put together, Fractal have thought of everything. Scan were very quick with delivery too. It's a shame I didn't get the case in white though, there were some issues with the stock I think, but I'm happy with the black one too. It only includes 2 fans, they're great fans but be aware that stock cooling on this case is pretty terrible, it needs a few more. I added 2 more fans, 1 intake and 1 exhaust (using up the modvent). When I'm not gaming the fan controller set to lowest makes the whole system inaudible even with the modvent open. With the new fans the temps of my rig dropped more than 20c under heavy load (with the inclusion of a new CPU cooler as well). Speaking of the cpu cooler, there's plenty of room for some large air cooled towers, I'm using a phanteks tc12dx and have about 2-3cm clearance from the window. It's got plenty of graphics card room, including a removable hard drive cage, I took mine out to help airflow. All in all. A very customizable case, looks very sleek and is my new favourite thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent case design Bought this case after seeing a system in Custom PC based on it and I'm not dissappointed at all. There are some excellent features on this case to help build a tidy and smart system. Key hightlights - Cable routing holes - SSD mounts between the motherboard mount and the side panel for 2 drives - Choice of drive bay configurations for 3.5" drives - Very quiet - Roomy The only "slight" niggle and it's not massive was the hole for the CPU power was awkward to feed the connector through. Did result in grommet coming off which isn't easy to put back on. If your after a new case, go no further!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I could not be happier Bought this to replace my NZXT Phantom as I wanted something a bit quieter, a bit more reserved and large enough to fit a Kraken X61. Installing the components was too easy - the x61 fits just fine at the top once the drive cage was removed (and two of the sound dampening panels removed). The case is extremely quiet, even with the top panels removed and an extra intake fan added to the front. All in all, a worthy upgrade from a Phantom, which in itself is an excellent case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Case Brilliant case, nice and spacious inside, plenty of cable management and fan options. it has around an inch at the back for the 24pin cable to be routed easily without any bulging of the back panel. well insulated, very silent. highly recommended.

Questions & Answers

Will this fit?

I am looking at this case but need to check whether I can fit the Kraken X61 and an optical drive and hard drives at the same time. On reading the reviews you have to remove the optical drive bay to fit a 280mm rad at the top or remove the rear fan. The Kraken is only 27mm thick so can you put the optical drive on the bottom 5.25 external bay and fit the Kraken above it? Does anyone have this setup with this case without restricting airflow? I need the hdd left in there so dont want to move the Kraken to the front of the case.
Asked by: Witch1
Hello, On top of the 27mm thick radiator there will need to be fans which will add to the thickness. So i am unsure if there will be enough room. There is room for a 240mm radiator so you could try a corsair h100i which should fit with no problems. Thanks,
