GTX 1080 PERFORMANCE

Relative VR Gaming Performance

EVGA’s GTX 1080 is a quantum leap forward in performance and power efficiency. It is built using ultra-fast FinFET, this new, smaller chip design uses fewer Watts of power and emits less heat, enabling us to crank up the core clock speed of the GPU, which is key for increasing a graphics card's performance. Alongside the FinFET is 8GB of GDDR5X memory, a new, faster type of video card memory. This cutting-edge and blazing fast, High Bandwidth memory ensures performance won’t be bottlenecked by memory-related operations in the most demanding games.

GROUNDBREAKING GTX 1080 DESIGN

The EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 is meticulously crafted to offer superior heat dissipation using an advanced vapor chamber and premium materials, so it runs as cool as it looks. Surrounding the GeForce GTX 1080's powerful hardware is a redesigned vapor chamber and fan for cool, quiet operation; a polygonal shroud, and a backplate for the dissipation of heat from the rear of the graphics card. This premium design enables excellent overclocking and whisper-quiet operation, a trend we began with previous-generation NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPUs.

EVGA PRECISION X OC

Built for NVIDIA Pascal

The next generation of EVGA PrecisionX utility has arrived with EVGA PrecisionX OC. This new version is built for the NVIDIA Pascal architecture and combines the best of EVGA Precision and EVGA OC Scanner to give you never before seen overclocking features and built in automatic overclock tuning. Put the power of the NVIDIA Pascal architecture in your hands with EVGA PrecisionX OC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good card for image rendering Over a year I bought 3 examples of this product, so that speaks for itself. Eventual plan is to go for SLi so I wanted exactly the same model. I seldom play games on it but I got it for 3D image rendering which can take hours at high resolutions so the faster the better. Here having 8Gb video memory is a strong plus. My son uses one for playing games on a 4k screen where it still has a playable frame rate. Initially I was disappointed that NVidia released this card without drivers for Iray but that problem has now been solved. So a powerful if expensive card with excellent performance and no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great video card The video card is great, I was using laptop last few years and decided it's time to put a PC together, experience is amazing. I paired up the gtx1080 with 4K screen with 60hz refresh rate. The video card delivers 60fps in most games when 4K resolution on max settings, some of the last titles that are really demanding don't drop below 32fps which is still enjoyable to play. If you want higher refresh rate, above 120hz you have to consider 2k screen. But in my opinion this product is great for 4K gaming. The card puts quite a lot of heat, runs about at 60degrees Celsius, havens tried to over lock it yet but this will be an option if you consider to water cool it. Delivery was fast and on time, so you will not get nervous when waiting for your 600-700£ card, products arrive on time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality card, high price and low OC potential I got relatively lucky with this one my card happily over clocks to 2100 not great but hey... I got a firestrike score of 21042 with it overclocked My Titan X only managed 17109 overclocked EVGA Covers the stock cooler removal under warranty so u can fit a water block without fear of voiding your warranty, the only manufacturer to do so AFAIK. Only real down side is with AMD effectively out of the high end game nvidia can charge what they like meaning these cards cant really be classed as good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Flagship Card Nvidia's flagship consumer card is everything you'd want as a gamer. Out of the box the card looks fantastic with the silver surround and the attention to detail of the dust covers for the rear ports. The card feels pretty heavy compared to the old GTX 770 it is replacing. Installing it was no problem, and simply slid in with the only adjustment coming from the power cables. Once on the LED Geforce logo gives a satisfying green glow, once in the desktop opening GEforce Experience gives system the opportunity to re-apply all the optimisations. This card takes gaming at 4k in it's stride with consistent frame rates at around 90 for most moderned games on max or near max settings. Under load the card sits at a comfortable 80C and the fans remain pretty quiet. if you want the best gaming experience or looking to take the jump to a VR ready system this is a great choice. The price tag can put you off but if you can stretch to it then it is a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, but not without issues Very fast card, however does thermal throttle at 82c which it hits regularly. Seem's odd as if you adjust the power it "only" goes to 86c and performance picks up significantly. Over priced for a reference design card. Board partners solve both these issues and are better value overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new king of performance This is an astounding card, but I want to start with some honest truths: CONS: -The price hike NVidia have plastered on Founder's Editions of the GTX 1080 is pretty unnecessary. In addition to that, the European price is a step above the usual premium placed when doing a US/EU comparison. Call it basic market economics, monopolist behaviour of the top tier market...however you put it this card is just more expensive than it should be. Particularly when you look at the price progression and build history of their existing generations of GPUs. -The general lack of availability of the card is also in direct conflict with the assurances that great retailers such as SCAN were given by NVidia. Again, I'm going to squarely call this a marketing stunt under the banner of deliberate under supply. PROS: - Greedy tactics aside, there's a reason NVidia have to some extent got away with the unethical behaviour around this card. It really is that good. I've had a marked increase in performance across the board on every single application against exactly the same rig running the notoriously powerful AMD R9 295X2 -I see this card as the first genuine option for contemporary 4k gaming. Games that require punishingly high frame rates to remain competitive, such as most MOBAs (read: Overwatch) have been limited to 1080p or 2k in some exceptional circumstances. Now I feel 4k gaming is much more viable, particularly with games that are graphically less demanding. I can comfortably play Overwatch, LoL, HotS and several other high pace games at a target 60fps in 4k (target rig details below). -From a pure efficiency perspective, the card is also extremely good. At load this Founder's Edition card probably just about exceed the 26-28dB mark and draws its power from a single 8pin VGA socket. Whilst not perhaps an overclockers dream, you will honestly not get much beyond marginal gains against the EVGA Founder's Edition in particular. REFERENCE RIG: *intel i-4770s (quad core 3.1GHz) *16GB DDR3 Corsair RAM *EVGA 1600W PSU *ASUS Z series MoBo *Samsung EVO SSD *Windows 10 *Samsung UHD (4k) 30" display

Questions & Answers

My Mac Pro early 2009 5.1 only has 2x6 pin PCi sockets!!

I have recently placed an order from your good selves for an EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition 8GB GDDR5X 2560 Core Graphics card which requires a single 8 pin connection.Nvidea did suggest that a Dual 6-Pin to 8-Pin Adapter Cable might be enough to drive this card? Would you be kind enough to advise me. I would be very grateful for some help here as I do not want to jeopardise my computer by being foolish. Many thanks.
