Rated 5 out of 5 by from Onboard Sound Versus Dedicated Soundcard I have always used Dedicated Sound Cards. Onboard sound over the years has improved but a dedicated card is a vast improvement for me with regard to sound quality. I choose the Creative due EAX support for some older games that I still play and because Creative has always been my choice. Would I recommend this card? Yes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Sound Bought this to replace the on-board sound from my new Asus Crosshair VI Extreme mobo which had iffy sound jacks (nice that they are lit up and colour coded to make it easier to plug in, shame they were dodgy and didn't work properly) Having had Sound Blasters from many years ago, it was an easy choice and as expected from a Creative Sound Blaster card I'm in no way disappointed in the excellent sound from this card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing card I was skeptical about getting a new cheaper sound card that the one i replaced (auzen x-fi prelude) as when this card came out it wasn't cheap, but as windows updated from 7 to 8 and then to 10, the driver support just fell apart and i had enough so thought ill go creative directly and WOW i didn't realize how bad my card had got in terms of audio quality! This card gave new life to my sound system (Logitech z5500) everything was clearer, crisper, louder.... i was amazed at the difference... the included microphone wasn't that great in Skype, but half of that is down to how much Skype has been screwed up by Microsoft and i didn't check the mic in any other application so it may be ok... HIGHLY recommend this card to anyone! but there is a very bright red LED that comes from it so make sure that will fit your colour scheme if you have one, if not then its not a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does all and more than I need. I am not a gamer but wanted a decent sound upgrade for my PC which is my entertainment centre, ie TV and music. Alongside my Creative speakers this is a good combination and the headphone output to my Beyer headphones is very good. Being able to personalise settings for speakers and 'phones is handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money with a lot of great features I just received this card in the post today and I immediately set about installing it. I had read reviews and opinions about this card prior to deciding and most seemed positive with minor points of contention. Before this card I had an Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro which cost £200 and came with all sorts of break out boxes and a remote control; that was over 10 years' ago and with more modern incarnations of Windows, I found the drivers for that card were lacking or unsupported and had to find hacked drivers for it to work properly. To that end I decided to get an upgrade, the oldest thing in my PC finally got a replacement! There are other iterations of this card [Zx and ZxR] with added features but cost a lot more but for someone on a moderate budget this is excellent value for money, its software is fully featured allowing you customise many aspects of how you hear the sound coming from your speakers, and as a side-note I have paired this card with Creative Inspire T6650 5.1 system and the sounds really pop. I really can't recommend this card enough. With my old card I thought I was getting the best experience even over on board sound [which should be abolished] but this card is something else. It's like I had Vaseline on my ears and on my speakers before but now everything is clear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Crippled. The greatest drawback to this card is that it has no support for Linux whatever... there aren't even any 3rd party drivers. In Windows, it produces good sound but a little heavy on the bass for my taste. In any case, there are far better cards available.. step back a generation or two and Soundblaster's own X-Fi is the equal or better.. and comes with a generous list of programmes plus Linux support.. For these reasons, I do not recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Sound! i decided to opt for a dedicated Sound card over the onboard and im amazed at the quality. I am a gamer and i love my movies/music and this just does it all. the sound quality is really clear and crisp i am only using my steelseries headset with it at the moment. the scout mode isnt soo great it works but i am not sure if its just me or my headset it makes the audio sound like im in a church.

4.1 Speakers and this card

Would a 4.1 speaker set up work properly with this card i.e. all the low frequencies get directed to the subwoofer? The s/woofer is on the green (front) jack and not on a separate line.
