Corsair Carbide 300R - Mid-Tower Gaming PC Case

Corsair 300R Case

Carbide 300R Compact PC Case

Great systems start with a great case, and Carbide Series 300R provides a remarkable number of features in a compact chassis. Easy access, lots of room for expansion, and superior cooling make the 300R a great choice for building powerful PCs that don't take up a lot of room.

Serious Case Expansion

300R Door Panel

Easy to Build, Hard to Beat

The 300R is equipped with two fans for intake and exhaust, and the integrated dust filters on the front and bottom intakes are easy removable. There's room for you to install five more fans, including mounting points for two side panel 120mm fans for drawing cool air directly over your GPUs. If you're building a multi-GPU gaming rig, proper graphics ventilation is essential.

Incredible Build Quality

Corsair Carbide 300R Cooling

It's big where it counts

Despite its size, the 300R can fit extra-long graphics cards of up to 450mm length, and it has three optical drive bays and four hard drive bays. All the bays are tool-free, and the hard drive bays have integrated support for 2.5" drives, so you won't need to deal with adapters when installing SSDs.

Whether you're building multiple systems or just one, and whether you're a professional or if it's your very first build, the 300R has the smart features that matter. Just like the drive bays, the side panels are tool-free, so you'll spend less quality time with your screwdriver. The black painted interior has a CPU cutout for quick installing or upgrading of CPU heatsinks, and Corsair's innovative cable management system provides a straightforward way to route cables behind the motherboard, not across it where it can interfere with airflow and give your system a cluttered look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can recommend. Gotta remember it's only £66... Build-wise it doesnt have the weight of a more expensive case so feels a teeny bit tinny. Not enough to make me regret buying it or to fear for it's safety when I move it around. But it does feel less solid than a more expensive case. The options you have inside are just nuts. You can fit 2x 120/140mm fans front, side and top, and a 120mm at the back to keep the air shifting. You can fit any graphics card you like, space will never be a problem. There's a fairly generous amount of space behind motherboard tray to hide cables. But if you wedge too many back there it gets a little tricky to close the case (you gotta hold down all 4 corners, then slide). The HDD mount works well, but my WD blue had a little wiggle room. I put a couple strips of electrical tape down the sides to remove the play. The optical bays wouldn't work for me. They were nice and snug but I couldn't get the lock to work without it popping back out again. Not a problem though, couple screws - job sorted. The front panel comes off with a sharp tug, which is handy for cleaning your dust filters. Only snag is the large front dust filter is permanent. You could take it out but you would have to bend some metal tabs to do so (don't know how long they would last being bent open regularly). Hoovering the front of case often seems like the only option for that one. For £66 I can totally recommend this case. There are many cheaper options, but none will match this. ...but sometimes I can't help thinking I should have spent £30 more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Budget case with plenty of features Used this in my new budget PC build, coming from an unbranded generic case. This case has plenty of space, while not the biggest card ever certainly it easily fit my GTX 760, installation of hardware was also very simple thanks to the various features. The DVD drive bay is a simple slide-in and click on, personally found the middle slot I initially mounted the DVD in to cause rather a lot of noise but I suspect this is because of a slightly less solid grip, moving it to the bottom slot so it was resting on the base of the bay solved this issue. There are screw holes visible also if you wish to double up, though I found that rather difficult to do. HDD bay was very simple to use, slide out drawers worked great, only criticism here that is partially joint with my PSU is that the cables connect on the right side of the case, the motherboard side. This presented an issue with my chosen PSU as the cables were well jacketed, while it was simple to plug in on HDD and then file away the cable, the curving on the jacket meant that when I tried to connect multiple HDDs the cable stuck out from the side of the case preventing closure. Is this the PSU manufacturers fault for the cable or corsair's for the lack of clearance? I would say a bit of both. The cable routing holes were useful in keeping the case tidy and theres plenty of room for fans. 7 Slots total, 2 top, 2 front, 1 back, 2 side. Overall a very solid product especially for a budget. My only real criticism is the side panels seem very flimsy and bend easily, this made putting them back on the first few times quite difficult and I fear with too much pressure could bend very easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great case, great price, great brand Where to start. What a great case. I ummed and arrghed for a couple of days between a few cases before finally ending up on either the 300r-400r. After much deliberation I went with the 300r as I liked the look better There are a few reviews you can find around claiming that the case is flimsy, and this that and the other thing ... they are all nonsense! This case is sturdy, has a nice bit of weight to it and generally has a great build quality. Pros: - Look (subjective) - Great airflow - Surprisingly quite despite plenty of ventilation - 2 default fans with plenty room for more (or water cooler) - Pre installed Motherboard standoffs - Grippy rubber feet - Plenty of room in case - Reliable and well known brand Cons: - no rubber grommets, something that you will instantly get over the minuet you close the case ;) - little bit tight for cable management at the back if you don't have many HDDs,SDDs, or optical drives (something the 400r's 'bulge' looks like it would solve nicely Overall 9.5/10: Great case, for a very reasonable price. If you are a mid tier gamer/user like myself who doesn't need need their case to resemble a nightclub full of transformers you should seriously consider grabbing one of these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good price and quiet Bought a R9 280X on impulse and then found it wouldn't fit my Cooler Master Centurion case. So was looking for a relatively cheap case and this was the choice. Lots of room so fitting everything from my old case was simple and the new Graphics Card fits with room to spare. Fans are Very Quiet, quality for £60. Ordered Thursday afternoon, arrived 8:45 next day. Good communication throughout, very impressed with Scan and the couriers they use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bargain Bought this to replace my Coolermaster aluminium case so was a little nervous, however this was all expunged the minute I started to play with it. Both side panels have a raised edge so you can get your fingers behind for easy access. Panels are sometimes a little fiddly to re attach, its by no means a hassle however I use my knee at the bottom and fingers at top to push it on so when you slide close all clips line up otherwise you tend to find you missed one. Comes complete with all sorts of mounting screws for hard drives and screws for additional fans. Uses thumb screws for the case and for the expansion slots. The drive bays are screw free. Looks and feels great I have to say, the fans are pretty quiet compared to what I'm used to so a massive bonus. The only one little niggle was installing a Samsung CCD 840 EVO, you have to put the drive into a 3.5" bay in one of the removable trays and screw the drive to the tray. Only one screw lines up so I needed to drill a second hole in the plastic tray. Easy fix though a 10 minute job max. Package came with screws. There is plenty of space for a large GPU due to the clever design. The only other issue I found was installing additional hard drives for backup (none SSD) they are a lot longer and if you use a SATA cable which doesn't have the 90 degree plug on one end its a very tight fit between it and the side of the case. I made that mistake and replaced my cables. You can use a 180 degree cable for the SSD no problem though. I strongly recommend buying a couple of 90 degree cable for SATA drives. The power button is located near the top of the case, which is perfectly placed as I have my tower at ground level. Its a bright white colour. The other very good thing is the placement of the holes for the motherboard screws. I didn't need to attach them myself they are already installed and in a fixed location. I'm using an ATX mboard and there is lots of space. I challenge someone to find a better case bang for buck I really do. I hope my minor points help future buyers of this case. I really do love this case now its setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality solid case at a very reasonable price. I have had this case for a little over a year so far. I would have to admit it is my favorite so far. It comes with excellent cable management holes throughout the motherboard mounting plate for good cable tidiness. The PSU fitting area comes with a filter on the underneath area to help keep dust out of the PSU: a good design option, and the filter is easily removable. A cut out for CPU HSFs should make frequent upgraders a more pain free process to replace the CPU and HSF assembly. Removable hard drive caddies with a tool free design are included, another good choice by Corsair, the same for the 5.25 bays for Optical Drives, etc. Filtered two front fans below the 5.25 bays included. There is space for two fans on the door panel (not included), another for rear exhaust (not included), and lastly space for two large fans at the top of the case for exhaust from the top (I have 120mm fans installed, not included). The case is a solid metal design with the front face made of quite attractive black plastic. Overall an excellent case which I highly recommend. It has been to South Africa and back a few times, and has survived unscathed so far which other cases did not survive even with ample padding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good strong case, fan missing. This is a great case! It looks really classy and its strong and well built. There is also a good amount of room on each side of the case allowing you to install large coolers and route your cables through the back of the case without any issues. The case is supposed to come with 3 fans according to the specification, but it actually only came with 2. It does come with built in fan filters though, which are great as they can easily be slid out to clean without interfering with your rig.

So does this case definitely come with 2 fans preinstalled?

Or do i have to install them myself?
Asked by: Legolas
Fans are fitted front and back. You just need to connect to the motherboard.
