Blackmagic Design ATEM Constellation 8K Production Switcher

NAB meant 8KBlackmagic's NAB 2019 push was all about 8K and prepping you for it. Just because we've got adjusted to 4K, doesn't mean that time has stopped and advancements don't happen. With this in mind, Blackmagic are getting ahead of the game and putting out an 8K workflow solution prior to it becoming the norm.

Everything and the kitchen sinkThe ATEM Constellation 8K is more than a beast. It's the beast-slayer. 40 12G-SDI inputs, 4 M/Es, 4 DVEs, 16 keyers, 4 media players, 4 multi viewers, 2 SuperSource and standards conversions and 24 12G-SDI aux outputs. For audio, there is a 156 channel Fairlight audio mixer, plus built in talkback!

Native 8KThe Constellation is designed to work in 8K natively, transforming the 40 SDI inputs into 10 Quad Link 12G SDI 8K inputs, the 4 multi views into a full resolution 8K multi view. Each port can be up and cross converted, meaning you can bring your HD or Ultra HD feeds directly into an 8K stream or push your 8K stream to a lower resolution for standard broadcasting!

Fairlight AudioEach SDI port comes with Fairlight audio mixer connectivity, whether through the software or the hardware, which brings full audio production without having to enter into other software.

Native 8KThe 24 outputs can be customised to suit your needs, letting you get a clean feed out of one and full independent feeds out of others. With this many outputs, you can even stream them out to various other projectors, video walls and digital signage that might be in the area.

You'll also be able to work in multiple TV standards, giving you the headroom to move from HD to Ultra HD to 8K once its ready.

Native 8KOn the front you'll find a full control panel, allowing you to properly take advantage of the switcher's capabilities. You can switch between feeds, apply transitions and upstream/downstream keyers. There's even an XLR port for talkback.

Get HelpEverything works better in a team, which is why the Software Control that comes with the ATEM lets you and your team work together across the network's Ethernet connection. This means that you can focus on what you do best, while the rest of the team ensures that things go smoothly with other sections.

8K made easyOn Blackmagic’s end, utilise this with the new ATEM HyperDeck Extreme 8K for a perfect master recording at the native 8K, then save it to where it needs to go via the MultiDock 10G over USB-C. Once it’s done, take the footage straight from the HyperDeck via FTP, onto the PC and into DaVinci Resolve or your favourite video editing software.
