Rated 2 out of 5 by Manuka Will not run windows 10
Windows 10 loads just fine but the network does not work. There is no driver for the network device, in fact until the bios was upgraded the network device was not found. The driver disk supplied with the motherboard 'will not work with the current operating system'. It has windows 10 printed on the disk, nor does it work with windows 7, the driver download from Asus also fails. The over clocking feature works well with the i5 6600K. One of the SATA ports does not operate, the disk it would not see works on an additional SATA card I have fitted. I would not recommend this board.

Rated 5 out of 5 Excellent mid-range board
As I was not interested in overclocking or SLI I initially opted for the E version of this board, unfortunately that was DOA and I returned to Scan with that and they accepted it back but could not replace it like for like so I went for this as a slight upgrade. They even tested the board there and then with my CPU to put my mind at rest that all was ok.
Much respect and many thanks to Scan for this excellent service!
On this board I have a Skylake i7 6700 and M.2 NVMe boot drive running Windows 10pro. I use the PC for listening to hi-res music and gaming and the board provides all the inputs and outputs I could need. It looks great to in a white Fractal case giving a white/black theme.
Good manual and easy to set up the M.2 boot drive, the bios couldn't be more user friendly even to someone like me who has not built a machine in years.

Good intermediate motherboard. No problems installing. Had to do bios upgrade to recognised Samsung M.2 SSD.

I am incredibly pleased with this motherboard. The product operated as shown. The BIOS is very easy to navigate, and can be used by a complete amateur (such as myself). My only complaint is that it appeared to pre-overclock the my 6600K, with "Overclock 22%" appearing underneath the ASUS logo the first time I turned it on. I have yet to find a way to "unoverclock" it, but I am sure this is through no fault of the motherboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chilliman Great quality motherboard
Probably all the motherboard most of us will ever need. I have this installed with an M.2 boot drive and a Samsung Evo SSD drive. Super quick. The inbuilt optimisation software makes overclocking easy for those who are scared of it or haven't tried it before.
I am using this with an I-5 6600k processor and you just set the software running and it tests each overclock for you until it bluescreens then returns to the last stable overclock. Mine sits at 4.7ghz and is super stable and cool (with Kraken water cooling). If you want to intervene manually the ASUS bios has everything you will need.
The motherboard allows you to select the cooling and will let you go to higher clocks with water cooling. There are two switches on the motherboard to allow you to select XMP memory overclock and TPU levels air or water cooling. No bluetooth, but you could pay £100 more for another board higher up the ASUS line and never use any of the features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PrimalTundra Beautiful board.
Been running this motherboard with an i5-6600k basically since the chip released; and a modest overclock at 4.0GHz.
As for reliability, I have encountered no errors and anything I plug in works without an issue. And Asus' AI suite has some pretty nice fan curves pre set-up that seem to work well. I have a 3800rpm fan on my CPU, and it keeps it operating at a less-than jet turbine acoustic, remaining about 1500-1800rpm even under stress tests, under the 'Performance' curve.
The board itself has a rather impressive amount of features (including 2 USB 3.1 ports, one of which is a Type-C) and plenty of room for expandability. There are 7 PWM fan headers on the board in total, so you will have a hard time populating all of them unless you have dual 240mm radiators in push/pull.
Aesthetically, the black PCB with white plastic accents is very nice and fits in with my NZXT Phantom 240 case. There is a small LED on the back of the motherboard (which I only recently noticed) that gives it a pleasing backlit glow without being too garish.
In my opinion, probably the best-looking Z170 board so far; though admittedly it is still early days. The feature set is impressive, and compatibility does not seem to be an issue with Windows 10.
