ENHANCED FAN DESIGN

Max Air Flow 105% More Air Pressure

Triple Wing-Blade GPU Cooling

DirectCU III features triple 0dB fans engineered with a patented wing-blade design that delivers maximum air flow and improved 105% static pressure over the heat sink, while operating at 3X quieter volumes than reference cards. The 0dB fans also let you enjoy games in complete silence and make DirectCU III the coolest and quietest graphics card in the market.

FANCONNECT CONTROLLED GPU COOLING

GPU Controlled Fan Headers

When you are gaming it is commonly found GPU temperatures are higher than that of the CPU, due to chassis fans usually referencing CPU temps only - resulting in inefficient cooling. Asus GeForce GTX 1080 DirectCU III Strix 8GB GDDR5X Aura RGB Graphics Card, 2560 Core, 1670 MHz, 1809 MHz Boost is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Card It's bigger than it seems so make sure you have a large case. Voted 3/5 on Value as the price dropped very shortly after my purchase. As always with purchases from scan, delivery was prompt and the item was very well protected and packaged. Runs every game I own on max settings 1440p. Great card

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Guaranteed good VR experience This card was bought to go on a Windows 7 machine with an HTC Vive VR headset. Graphics driver installation was easy. The 2560 GPU cores smoothly render the graphics without tears and stutters providing an excellent VR experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome, Quiet Custom 1080 Bought this over other variants due to the Strix cooling. It's awesome. Unless you're pushing the card pretty hard it stays cool enough to have either slow fans, or no spinning fans at all. The on-board fan headers are also a welcome addition. Only downside: I dislike LEDs on my equipment. I think it's overstated. Not a problem to turn them off, but they periodically reactivate themselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blow your mind A+ Done tons of tests of the FPS and the temp runs for this card getting over 140 fps temp is around 60 to 80 fan turns on when it hits the temp it's a lovey card the down side was the cost but that's what you get for high end specs

Questions & Answers

Whats the difference?

Hi there, Just curious whats the difference other than the core/boost clocks between these two and why is the higher clocked one cheaper than the more expensive one? Asus GeForce GTX 1080 ROG STRIX GAMING 8GB GDDR5X VR Ready Graphics Card, 2560 Core, 1607MHz GPU, 1733MHz Boost, RGB LED
Asked by: Regs
It's simply a higher clock rate and therefore technically faster. For all intents and purposes this will translate into maybe 1 or 2 frames more. If you had the money, go fast, if not then it doesn't really matter.
