AMD Ryzen 9 3950X Enthusiast Processor that's Designed to Win

Ryzen 9 3950X CPU

Extreme Performance for Gamers, Streamers and Creators with 16 coresThe new AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen CPU's have arrived boasting higher performance gains over its predecessor lineup. With higher speeds, more memory and wider bandwidth the new Ryzen CPU's look to improve on and upgrade the way you relax, work and play. The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X processor includes 16 CPU Cores with 32 threads and a base clock of 3.5GHz that can be boosted to 4.7GHz. The new CPU's are backwards compatible with older motherboards thanks to the same AM4 slot socket however with the newly released chipset of X570 motherboards you can maximize the power the Ryzen CPU's have to offer. Support for DDR4 Memory continues but with the new Ryzen CPU's comes the new PCIe 4.0 Version which has improved the speeds of which your PCIe components such as graphics cards and some storage solutions communicate with the motherboard. Blur the line between elite gaming performance and workstation-class content creation with the most advanced desktop processors in the world.

Please Note: The Ryzen™ 9 3950X does not come bundled with a cooler. We recommend an all-in-one liquid cooler with a 280mm radiator (or greater).

AMD Ryzen™ 9 3950X, AM4, Zen 2, 16 Core, 32 Thread, 3.5GHz, 4.7GHz Turbo, 64MB L3, PCIe 4.0, 105W, CPU w/o Cooler is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very fast and Very HOT Just built 2 PC's using this CPU (1st time using AMD) and,as expected they are fast.I use the new PC's just for Distributed Computing -World Comm & Folding-and the CPU can handle 1 app very well but adding the 2nd app and the temp just causes system shutdown. 1 PC cooled by AIO and it copes well with World Comm app 1 PC cooled by air (Noctua) and struggles with World Comm app. As an aside I had previously built a PC using an Intel 9960x -air cooled- and it handles both apps at resonable temps using same No of cores.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from what do you expect from a high end cpu ! can not fault it used for game design and rendering some time i play games but wasn't bought for the game playing side does run a little warm but like most of amds ryzen cpus they all run a little on the warm side but its sitting on custom hard pipe cooling and doesn't go over 75 deg (even on a 32 deg day ) under full all core load clock speeds are not to bad. 4.3/4.4 single core and 4.1 all core (letting bios do its own thing ) but case air flow will play a big part in cooling this monster down would recommend if you are buying just for gaming i would put a ryzen 7 3700 or 3800 or the newer xt versions than buy this and use the extra money for a graphics upgrade but for work loads the 100% go for this one it will over clock but the gains aren't worth it mine will clock to 4.35 all core and run all day long but unless you have a good cooling its not worth it just bung it in and away you go but i would recommend under volting a little bit just to keep the temps in check

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very, very fast AMD 3950X Pros: High clock speed High core count Very reasonable temps when you consider the core count (Corsair H105) Cons: Beefy cooling needed Can use lots of power Not cheap If you have a need for speed the 3950X overcomes all the cons in my view.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fails to hit 4.7GHz and only hits 4.6GHz every 6 hours or so Brilliant CPU for running CinebenchR20 and rocks for multi core programs but fails to even hit 4.5GHz on single core, benchmark for 4 weeks trying every setting on the Asus Crosshair Hero XIII mb. Half the CPU would never ever go above 4.3GHz. Scan support refused to even take my issue seriouly let alone let me do an RMA, they just ignored the issue. Went to AMD direct and they agreed something wrong with the CPU and has now been returned to AMD for replacement. If you are unlucky and get a low binned CPU dont exspect Scan to even listern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice for fan and work Can be used for general stuff and also serious work.Upgraded from older server with 4x 16Core AMD opteron(64cores in total).Ryzen9 as singe cpu with 32 cores can do my work faster (1.5x) than old system with more cores.Used for calculation(Fourier)and database build (utilise all cores on100%). Automatic OC can push freq.to ~4.1GHz on all cores(75DegC).Manual OC can push all cores to 4.4GhZ(~90degC,idle~45deg).Beefy cooling is needed for OC.I am using Kraken x73. Declared max single core freq. 4.7Ghz can be reached only for a fraction of seconds and if more than one core is used(and in these days almost all applications use at least two cores) speed is reduced.Windows 10 task manager-Perfomance show max ~4.4Ghz. 4.7Ghz can be seen only in HWinfo aplication(or similar) which can monitor each core individually. However this cpu is unstoppable. You can build a library in the background, open 20 firefox tabs and watch video without any lagging. With 4.4GHz under full load it is exactly cpu what I need

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Stunning It's been a long time coming but my main pc now has a AMD CPU installed in it, the last time this happened it was AMD Athlon X2 6000. This 3950x is a complete monster of a CPU, not only can I still play all the games with no loss in performance but I can now render videos on the machine at the same time as playing games without dropping gaming performance. AMD have come along way with Zen and so much so that I cannot recommend anything but Ryzen to people who want to buy a new pc or upgrade. A friend of mine purchased a 3950x on my recommendation and is happy with it, for not only playing games but being able to record videos and edit them himself for his chiropractic clinic. My brother in law does photo editing for people and he asked me to build his pc for him, so I did using one of these and he is stupidly happy with it, not only can he easily play games and he has got a increase in performance compared to his old pc when gaming but he also has a increase in performance in photo editing. Overall I highly recommend this CPU for anyone from gaming to video/photo work, and many more professions.
