(B-Stock) AKG K702 Open Back Over Ear Premium Class Reference Headphones Black Factory Refurbished is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Akg 702 studio reference headphones Basically these headphones are the bees knees. Worn them for 3 weeks now and they are puring. Comfort :5 stars Sound: il give them 4.5 because I also have the akg k550 and the sound stage on those are breathtaking and these arnt as good as those but soundstage isn't the biggest thing in mixing so... Durability :no idea yet, early days. All in all they are great headphones but you don't need to hear that from me, you have probably read thousands of similar reviews praising the AKG 702 Service from scan is top notch, these were practically new and I bought them as b stock. Delivered on time too, so big high five for scan!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good all-round It's hard for me to give a fair assessment of this headphones as I haven't owned enough pairs to compare. However, from everything that I've done with them so far (after 2 weeks' ownership), my pair of refurbished headphones seem fine, with good definition. They were also very affordable, considering these are pretty much professional reference headphones. My only reservation is that they don't close and seal that tightly. They are open-back headphones but it would still be nice if they sealed more tightly. Conversely, they are very comfortable, and reviews elsewhere prove that you can actually forget that you are wearing them. Likewise other reviews remind users that these headphones can take a long time to burn in and that the bass can be a little weak (but not as much as the older 701s).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from That great AKG soundstage The unit was in mint condition, no dust, no marks, not a sign of being used. Listed as B-grade these were almost certainly a return. The headphones have that marvellous AKG soundstage perhaps a bit bass light for some, but what they do is reproduce the experience of live music for jazz, folk, classical and most pop and rock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Replace a venerable 1996 pair of AKG K-240 DF studio monitor headphones with these, like I did, and your eyebrows will be on autopilot. Upwards. My old 240's were detailed, crisp and transparent, and did great service for years, but the 702's have a significant edge. Here's the best way I can describe it: Picture a photograph of the outside of some complex machine, like a jet engine. That's the 240's. It's a good photo, sharp and well exposed, and it shows you what the thing looks like. Now - remember those 'exploded' views of stuff you used to see in magazines, books and posters, where the whole thing is expanded so you can see every tiny component inside, and every detail has its own 3D space, without ever losing the way it all fits together? Well, that's the 702's. Two pairs arrived in their original boxes, pretty much as new with nothing missing or dented. If this is the quality of refurb stuff from here, fear not for its quality. Like new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A true reference headphone with quality recordings Hi I'm a big fan of quality headphones. I have the Audeze LCD-2, Mr Speakers Aeon Flow Open, Hifiman HE500, 400 & 400S, Senn HD650 & 600, Beyerdynamic DT880, Phillips Fidelio X2, Shure SRH1440 etc. I've always liked the AKG K700 series and own K701, K702, Q701 & K712. What characterises the AKG is how brutally honest they are. Bad recordings sound horrible but good recordings really excel. Try listening to Jack Johnson, Miles Davis, Daft Punk etc and you'll see what I mean. They work with any genre as long as the recording is good and not overproduced. Some say they don't have bass but I believe this means they are using sub standard amplification as I disagree. They don't have as much bass as the top planars but it's still good. At only 62ohms you might think these are easy to drive but they are pretty insensitive and fussy about amplification. I use the open source Objective 2 plus ODAC from NwAudioGuy and they really suit each other. They won't work with high impedance output amps such as tube amps due to their own low impedance. They are also extremely comfortable now AKG has removed the headband bumps that didn't suit baldies like me. I'm using them with replacement lambskin earpads fron Dekoni and a silver plated OFC copper cable from Mavis Mods to improve the sound but this is really overkill as in their vanilla state they are still great sounding. The other thing these are great for is gaming, particularly FPS as the imaging is superb meaning you know exactly where all sounds emanate from. Also they have the sharpest attack of any headphone I own so gunshots are frighteningly realistic. Hope this helps Mag

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like new! A little bit uncertain buying B grade stock, but for the price thought I would give it a go. Well worth it. They were brand new open box. Very happy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product, but it is second hand (used) The headphones are exactly what I expected and I like their sound very much. However, they were not as described with "no significant signs of use". They were dirty and had hair and flakes of shed skin, as well as dried sweat on/in the earpads. They cable was slightly distorted through use or storage (still works perfectly, but not refurbished as I understand the term, where this cable would have been replaced). As to possible damage to the outer packaging - there was no outer packaging to be damaged and I can only assume that this had bene thrown away by a previous owner. These did not look like something that had been bought and sent back after 1 week of use, but instead something that had spent a year or more being regularly used in an editing studio. As to packaging, apart for a plastic bag with a date from 2 years ago written on it and B-Grade written on it (presumably when they had been examined), there was none. I have bought fresh earpads and am now very happy with the headphones. So caveat emptor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound for a great price The only clue to these being B stock was slight damage to the box. The headphones appeared to be in an as-new condition and right from the first plug-in produced a balanced clear sound. Mid-range was silky, bass was as good as could be expected from the open-backed nature of the construction and the highs had a nice sparkle which wasn't fatiguing or overdone. There's more than enough volume available when using these with either of my two Graham Slee headphone amps - a Solo ULDE and a Novo. I haven't tried these with a tablet or phone so can't comment on this. Overall, for the price these are a steal - and with AKG now ultimately owned by Samsung they might not be around too much longer which would be a great pity.
