Rated 5 out of 5 by from Particularly Useful Bot of Kit If You Have Limited Fan Headers Akasa may not be the most well-known computer peripherals brand but in twenty years of building computers I have never had any failures caused by their products or found them wanting in any away. A piece of advice on using fan splitter cables with motherboard manufacturer's fan control software, it is wise to only place a fan on the leg of the Y with the PWM sensor pin (ie all four pins)when setting up fan speed, as some software uses the current draw to create a curve to base the speed setting on; this can cause a loss of low speed use. Once you have fan control you are happy with fit the additional fan to the other leg of the Y. These cables meet that continued expectation, I can't realistically add anymore...

If I connect two fans to this splitter, will I be able to control both fan speeds as one is missing a pin (for RPM)

The missing pin is to the speed censor, there is an assumption made that you will be using two fans of same size, model number from the same manufacturer, and that both fans within manufacturing tolerances have near identical characteristics. The control data is matched to the fan on the four pin leg of the Y, but sent down one of the other three pins on each leg of the Y and controls both fans at the same time. Mixing fans of different makes, sizes and speed characteristics is likely to end up with the fan without the censor connection performing very erratically if it starts up at all.
