Rated 4 out of 5 by Wordmonger A great replacement drive, but beware!
I used this drive to replace the one in my Sony Vaio - wanting faster boot-up times and more stability. The cloning function worked first time, though the installation instructions are nowhere near as automatic as implied. Once up and running, though, it took a couple of hours to clone all the data and when I fitted it into my laptop it booted up perfectly, first time.
The data rates I'm getting now are a massive improvement.
BUT - if you're going to use this to clone an existing drive you're going to need a USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III Hard Drive adapter. There's no mention that this is a requirement until you open the instructions and discover that the adapter isn't included. Fine if you know in advance and can order one at the same time, but a pain in the backside otherwise.
I'd definitely buy another Samsung SSD.

I was worried about transferring my OS (Win7) over to the SSD - but it was as sweet as you could wish, not a single snag.
I would have wished, however, for a more comprehensive software suite that allowed me to transfer both my OS (on my old "C") and some application software that was running on another disc entirely, all at the same time. I know I can do that now, but together would have been great.
Speed-wise, I'm showing RR of 78,000 and RW of 46,000 or so at the moment.
I'm pleased I took the plunge!

Considering that this SSD rates highly in the "User Benchmark" performance charts, I thought the product was good, and it elevated my PC in User Bbenchmark up to "Aircraft Carrier" vs the Samsung Evo 840 However the Intel 750 Series NVMe PCIe SSD/Solid State Drive 400GB I bought to replace the Samsung Evo 850 pro took my pc with the same software setup (cloned with Acronis) up to UFO - IMPRESSIVE. Buy the Intel 750 Series NVMe PCIe SSD/Solid State Drive 400GB instead of this SSD

Samsung 850 Pro is a great SSD. Benchmarks do not lie - you really get these ~500 MB read/write speeds. Mind that in order to benefit from the full potential of this device you have to connect it to a SATA III port, which may be problematic when it comes to older laptops/PCs. It comes with a licence for Samsung cloning software, which is easy to install and run, so replacing an old HDD with a new SDD is a mater of minutes. I ran Windows 8.1 on it and now have no problems whatsoever after upgrading to Windows 10. Mac users would probably need to enable TRIM, as the company who manufactures OSX (what was the name...?) officially does not support Samsung products.
I can compare Samsung 850 Pro with OCZ Vector 180 as I use both of them. I cannot see any difference in real life applications between these drives (I play games, in addition to that I frequently use Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects and SolidWorks). However, while my almost 2 years old OCZ failed once and had to be send back to Toshiba, Samsung still works fine. And it has a 10 years long warranty, which is far superior when compared with any enthusiast grade drive available on the market.
Yes - I recommend it. If you can afford one - get one. They are not cheap, but they should not let you down.
