The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

A motherboard’s main job is to act as a conduit between the various hardware elements that make up a PC. It needs to be able to link the desired CPU(s), system memory, graphics card, hard drive(s), and add-in cards and enable them to work in harmony.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much power, in a dinky little package I never realized how small M.2 drives are! This little drive delivers on its promise of performance at a really reasonable price. I bought this as a gift for my partner and he loves it, really simple to install and immediately noticeable results after installing windows on to the drive. Although that wasn't without its difficulties. If you do decide to install this as your main boot drive, its a good idea to update your BIOS/UEFI to the latest version to ensure a smooth transition. Other then that - its brilliant :) Scan even delivered next day, thank you Scan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you expect - a super fast SSD Not sure what I can say in this review other than it's a super fast NVME SSD - look up benchmarks if you want to know just how fast. It's probably overkill for most uses and most people won't see the difference between this and a SATA drive for half the price, but some people just want the fastest they can get! For reference, I put Skyrim on this drive and most loading screens take 2-4 seconds now. You can fast travel and load the area before the hints and loading screen graphics even appear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung 970 Evo 500gb What can i say, except to say WOW! (This product was an upgrade from my Samsung 950 pro 256gb) on an old z97 board i achieved 3200+ read and 2500+ write. at first i found both speeds capped at 1500 R+W and changed the card into a x16 slot just to see but no difference. then i found a setting in bois to chance the PCI-E version 1,2,3 and auto. it was on Auto so i specified both lanes to be 3.0. now i have a 1080 gfx in pci-e slot 1, and a samsung 970 evo (on an asus m.2 expansion card) on pci-e slot 2 - and the system flies! boot time is at 27 seconds running win7. Windows Word loads in an estimated `under 1/2 a second` delivery was next day and i was notified by scan.co.uk by email every step of the way - even the delivery drivers name. i will definitely order from these guys again - thank you!

Questions & Answers

Acer Switch tablet

My existing M.2 drive uses B & M keys and is 22 x 80mm. 1) Will this drive fit? 2) How can I transfer my operating system on to it? 3) Do you have a cheap M.2 to USB 3 adaptor for this purpose? See attached photo of existing drive
Asked by: Peter101
Hello, For compatibility you would need to check with your motherboard. This is an M key drive so would need an M or B&M key slot. You would need to look into software options to transfer the contents between drives however you would be best to reinstall the operating system from scratch. For connecting an M.2 drive via USB you could look at LN87894 or LN64667 (B/B&M key only however). Regards,
