I have a pretty typical desktop build, in that I use an SSD for my windows installation and a larger mechanical drive for long term storage, such as documents, films, music and photos. When I built my computer I felt I only needed a 256GB SSD, and despite pointing windows to save documents to my mechanical drive, my little Samsung SSD still filled up with data of some sort! So I cloned my Samsung 256GB SSD to this new 512GB(?) SSD from Crucial. I had read many reviews and opinions online that testify to this drive having a good balance of speed, quality and reliability. So far the drive has been fault free and I have found it a great replacement, doubling the capacity of the previous SSD. Should see me right for another couple of years. I only just realised when taking a photo of the drive in place, how dirty my computer actually is! Think I'll give it a clean soon! As always great service and prompt delivery from Scan. Recommended.

Just remember to order a mounting kit as well because these are 3.5" drives which don't naturally fit into a desktop PC without the mounting kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Roberto42 from Faster Boot Replacement for laptop hard disk, has resulted in much faster boot times and performance. Cloning was quite straight forward with Acronis which I already have. Once the clone was complete I did a straight swap and booted up successfully. The hardest part of the job was removal of the laptop base cover.

Crucial are a good brand and I tend to use them when purchasing storage (no brand is perfect, but better to go for a reputable one!) The speeds are great. Win 10 boots in seconds, had no problems running games. Only thing is that it doesn’t come with the extenders to fit into a 3.5” panel. Not a problem in my build as I could mount it onto the case - but if you’re putting this in a 3.5” drive bay remember to buy the extenders!

Data transfers are smoother and much faster. I was using a Hybrid drive prior to this for capacity but this proved to be unreliable for system use. Recommend using an SSD for all systems....
