Reviews
1TB Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 7200.14, SATA 6Gb/s, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache, 8ms, NCQ, OEM is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Update for Back ups before it is too late! Bought two of these 1TB Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 7200.14, SATA 6Gb/s as replacements in my JBOD 4 disk enclosure as the two oldest disks were well over 5 years old (both Seagate by the way).. So the obvious replacement had to be Seagate giving my previous experience. Both the new drives work well and fast enough for the purpose they are used for, I hope the lifespan of these two are as long as their predecessors – good value and as usual quality service in the extreme by SCAN & DPD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the job Needed to replace a failing HDD in a friends system. The Seagate barracuda is perfect for the job, with 7200rpm going from the previous 5400rpm should improve loading times. Nothing more to be said it does what it says in the description.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price and Quality Pros: Great Price for the Size (1TB) Not loud and noisy Decent Build Quality and Speed Cons: None so far

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems to be a good drive, but slightly concerned by noise This is better value than some of the higher capacity drives from Seagate. Seems to be working okay at the moment, but was slightly concerned when I heard slightly odd noises emanating from the drive - no problems at the moment, but just a bit off-putting. Make sure you have sufficient screws to fit this thing in as it doesn't come with any supplied (although that doesn't seem to be uncommon these days)- luckily I had spares, but if you're simply upping capacity rather than building a system from scratch, you might want to bear that in mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Terabyte for £40 It does what it says on the tin. It's a Seagate Barracuda which have always been reliable disks in my eyes. It's got a terabyte of storage and it's £40 - what's not to like?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value but a bit noisy I bought this to replace a Seagate 500GB drive that failed after 5 years of daily use. This 1TB drive was an easy swap, works great but it is noisier than the previous drive. Great price/service from Scan.

Questions & Answers

Backwards compatibility

Hi, are SATA III hard drives backwards compatible with SATA II ?
Asked by: Tomas
Sata III drives will simply operate at Sata II speeds so you will not get the benefits of the Sata III bus if your PC cannot deal with it. This is MY experience though I have yet to locate this finding on the web. Take more than one comment.I'd hate to be the source of misinformation.
