Rated 5 out of 5 by great HDD great price. Bought this HDD to fix an old PC my brother gave me, installed it with no problems and got Linux Mint running easily. Great for the price. 21 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by It works. Well for the price this is amazing! I brought this for a server and it worked over WiFi. I would recommend it so much so worth the buy! 12 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product, reasonable price. Absolutely no faults with this product and the price is very reasonable, the drive functions as expected and is a great addition to my PC. I use the new drive to boot arch linux and the drive is perfect for this purpose. I will certainly consider seagate drives in the future. 10 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works like a charm Does with says on the description worth the price! 04 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product, great price. This is a great HHD at a great price. It does the job perfectly. 10/10 for the HHD and 10/10 for Scan, as ever. 13 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fine so far - but it depends on longevity! I bought this drive about a month ago after the second Samsung 1TB drive failed in my desktop. The first failed several months ago and then the backup did the same - both bought from SCAN 4 or 5 years ago when I built my desktop. So far no problems - but this is a basic bit of kit; I cannot say that it is any faster or slower than other drives that I've had and my main requirement is that it just works and keeps on working. Over the years I've had lots of HDDs and most have been replaced because of capacity issues with very few actually filing (the exception being the Samsungs and a Maxtor in a NAS box at least 8 years ago). So, so far I'm pleased with it - as long as it 'just works'! 19 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far, so good. I have replaced a number of drives that are older than 5 years simply because I need to have reliable kit. Sadly, until I have 4 years of use under the belt, one must assume the best but prepare for the worst and BACK STUFF UP. I use a disk imaging tool (ToDo) and I keep my images up to date to reduce the laxative effect of a failed drive in a time of need. I have stored the 'old' drive away just in case I ever need to load it up again. 08 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Much needed pluged straight in and work essitally off the bat! <3 scan 28 November 2015

Answer:
SATA III is backwards compatible so you can use this drive with a SATA II port, without issues but of course will operate at SATA II speeds.

Answer:
I've put one of these in a machine with a SATA II motherboard and it worked fine, so I guess the answer is yes, but probably depends on the motherboard.

Answer:
Generally a SATA III drive will work with a SATA II controller, but only at the best SATA II speed, not the higher SATA III speed.

Answer:
Sata III drives will simply operate at Sata II speeds so you will not get the benefits of the Sata III bus if your PC cannot deal with it.

This is MY experience though I have yet to locate this finding on the web.
