The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

1TB Samsung 860 QVO, 2.5” 7mm SSD, SATA III 6Gb/s, MJX, MLC 3D V-NAND, 1GB Cache, Read 550MB/s, Write 520MB/s, 96k/89k is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This drive has resurrected my laptop. My 2012 MacBook was really struggling until I fitted this drive and doubled the Ram. Scan were also brilliant. Great price quick delivery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as intended. Easy to install. I am satisfied with the product and the software. Samsung Magician is straight forward and easy to use. I will apply a screenshot with performance benchmark. Keep in mind these things: 1. I have an old motherboard with SATA2 connection (3.0. GB/s), not SATA3 (6.0. GB/s) so the speeds are half as those advertised. 2. After enabling RAPID mode, which increases the performance of the drive, you can see huge differences between read/write speeds as showcased on the scans done on 11.08 Overall I am satisfied with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy Not the fastest but a good price and reliable. I don't see the need for anything faster I won't see the difference in game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems as fast as an internal ssd? Macbook has runout of storage space due to large WAV files for music making in a DAW. Bought a dual drive dock with Thunderbolt from Scan and added this drive. More or less plug and play -just had to reformat drive which was simple. Subjectively speed seems as fast as using built in drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install, huge speed difference. I had been considering replacing my old Seagate hard drive with an SSD for some time, and had read generally good reviews about the Samsung range. As the PC is only used for everyday tasks I decided to save money by opting for the QVO rather than the EVO, and have to say the improvement in performance of the PC is nothing short of incredible. It was also very easy to clone the old disk and install the new one into the PC. Would recommend this disk to anyone with a slow PC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement for my old spinning disk. I have to say that the Samsung SSD was just what I needed to improve the performance of my old computer. The price, quality and performance were all top-notch.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Do not recommend this SSD Bought this SSD as an additional drive for my PC. All speeds are not as advertised unfortunately. Also if you want to transfer 40GB+ files in one go the 860 QVO 1TB goes from 520 MB/s write speeds down to 80 MB/s once the SLC write buffer is full. I've swapped for EVO and it's night and day difference and I had to spend just couple of pounds more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best Very easy to use and extremely fast. Windows 10 boots up in seconds now, not minutes like before. If you want to clone your old hdd the Samsung migration tool does everything. This is one of the best ssd’s out there in my opinion. Worth the money

Is this drive Linux compatible?

Does it completely imitate a traditional HDD so that it doesn't matter what Operating System its running on or can there be issues?
Asked by: GarethB
So long as you format the drive in something that is appropriate for both Windows and Linux, i.e. NTFS, it should be fine for both, and there should be no issue. Just make sure you use a relatively modern OS that fully supports the TRIM functions of an SSD, so Windows 7 or later will be fine, but I'd avoid XP or older for reliability/longevity purposes. The drive was visible in Linux Mint when I've tried it in that too, for example, and I expect other distros should be fine too. Also make sure, if you were to install an operating system on it, that you use AHCI mode in the BIOS rather than IDE, as that is also needed for TRIM to work.

Does this work with Alienware Aurora R7?

Hi, I read a couple posts online stating these 860 Samsung SSDs don't work with Aurora Alienware R7 computers, will this SSD be compatable?
Asked by: MIkecherley
Hello, There shouldn't be any reasons why this wouldn't work with an Alienware Aurora R7, it should be fully compatible. Kind Regards
