In terms of durability I have not had this long enough to see. but have faith from reading reviews that it will last for the long haul. Do I need to format this drive before I can install it in laptop?

I am not v confident at formatting before putting the new SSD drive into my old laptop, and am wondering if this is necessary, or whether Scan will do it for me? Will request NTFS formatting if Scan offer this service

If you are installing an operating system on it you will be prompted . I did not format it just installed windows 10 Pro with no problem even all the drivers where installed on my HP laptop with no problem. If you are not confident installing windows you may have to Pay to have it installed . Or are you just using it as a data drive.

Adaptor for hard drive bay

Does this SSD come with an adaptor so it will fit in a standard hard drive bay?

No it does not, most cases today will provide in the HD trays provision for fitting SSD's.
