Pro Game Viewing

Becoming the best when it comes to gaming is not just about playing, it is also about watching the professionals and here are some products to help you do just that.

When it comes to watching or viewing video games it may seem natural to be at your PC, after all that is where you play and what better place to be I say! On occasion though some games justify a good lounge back on the sofa or a full on party experience. Some of you out there may not be familiar with the idea of being able to watch video games on anything accept your PC, some of you may be more than familiar with the idea, in either case here are some products to help you achieve or enhance the professional viewing experience.

Sit back and create a little bit of atmosphere!

Breakdown

When gamers decide to share their plays and pwnage with the world they will usually use one of the following methods:

  • XSplit, a piece of software which allows customisation over your stream e.g. adding logos and overlays, resizing windows and generally a more professional experience.
  • Live Broadcasters (TwitchTv, Own3D, Livestream), in order to share their play with the world live, a gamer may use a live broadcaster to allow people to tune in and watch as the action unfolds.
  • Video On Demand (YouTube, BlipTV, ..), sometimes there is a lot complexity in what is being produced or there may be circumstances which prevent live streaming. In this case a video is locally recorded and uploaded to a site for viewing, this can also apply to live broadcasts after they have ended.

So this gives you an idea of where to go when wanting to watch professional gaming. It is not just big eSports titles like Starcraft II and League of Legends either there is FIFA12, Trackmania, Diablo 3, DOTA2, Fighters and many more. In fact a lot of peoples gameplay for recent releases of big name titles may be being streamed as well. All of which you want to watch in the best way possible so are a few ways to do it.

Viewing on Television

We all most likely have one of these somewhere in our house and usually it will be for Cable/Freeview channels, DVDs or media players etc. Well, why not enjoy some DOTA2 gameplay after your favourite documentary? Its not as hard as you may think either with a HD Ready TV and a HD cable. After this there are several choices as to which way you can proceed.

We all like LAN parties but with BarCrafts (watching eSports in a bar or pub setting) popping up all over the world, now seems like a perfect time to invite a group of friends round with a big projector and enjoy the many tournaments available in eSports. All you need to do is plug in your computer, adjust the settings and off you go!

Viewing On PC

In terms of your PC you may be getting or thinking of an upgrade to make your gaming better, while doing this you may want to consider a better or even extra graphics card so you can have more monitors. This gives you extra space for work and the ability to have streams or tutorials running while you play. Maybe you do not have the space for an extra monitor in which case maybe you want a slightly larger screen then you still have more work space and you can watch streams from a distance if space is an issue.
