
ITV Creative is an in-house, full-service creative ad agency right at the heart of ITV. The team is responsible for creating and producing on and off-air advertising and brand communications aimed at both UK and International markets. Internal clients include the ITV channel portfolio and joint-ventures such as BritBox, while externally, the team works alongside a wide range of commercial partners.
Project Background
ITV Creative ITV was searching for a dynamic and striking video wall to enhance meeting rooms adjacent to the reception area where clients are entertained. The requirement was to move away from the standard rectangular grid array, as they used a lot of varied content including that from social media, which lends itself to portrait rather than landscape displays, so a mix of screen orientations would be required.

Additionally, the video wall system had to be simple and easy to use, with an intuitive graphical interface and the supporting hardware be small in terms of server rack space footprint, due to limited server room availability.
Project Approach
After investigating a number of screen and server solutions it was determined that Userful offered the flexibility and functionality to power a mixed array of video screens whilst only needing a compact media server to power it. The media server was deemed enough to power the final design of five screens whilst taking up minimal rack space and power requirements in the server room.

Additionally, the Userful platform helps to streamline usage with a browser-based software-defined AV-over-IP solution, that enables the centralised distribution and management of unlimited content sources onto the displays.
Project Results
The end result is a very striking multi-orientation video wall. The screens primarily showcase ITV Creative content, promotional material that the ITV Creative team produces to market ITV programming, ranging from social media stills and animations to short commercials and video billboard content for upcoming shows. However, within weeks of the wall being installed the ITV team have also used it to host ITV Pride, World Cup and Love Island ‘takeover’ days, with overwhelmingly positive feedback.


It has proved eye-catching in the reception area providing a visually engaging insight into the breadth of work ITV deliver. Additionally, the system has also proved robust and extremely easy to configure and manage the manage the visual content.
