Form Factor
Based on the award-winning hardware and software platforms of Synology and QNAP NAS, we can provide either desktop or rackmount configurations to suit every budget and business. We are also able to specify the drives that best suit your applications too, even if that means two arrays in a single chassis, such as 4x WD Red Pro drives for business critical storage configured in RAID 5, and 2x WD Purple drives for network surveillance in RAID 1.
We can also configure your NAS with SSDs (where the chassis allows), however it should be noted that that the higher access speeds of SSDs are often negated in a network environment, dependant on data traffic levels.
RAID Configurations
Our experienced technicians can also pre-configure your RAID requirements too, with various options listed below suited to how the NAS device will be used, and the level of data security required.
RAID 0 - Striping
This method of RAID stripes the data across a minimum of two disks. Generally speaking, RAID 0 increases the read and write speeds proportionally to the number of disks you use, however although no capacity is lost with the array, there is also no fault tolerance, so RAID 0 may not be ideal for critical data storage.
RAID 1 - Mirror
This method of RAID mirrors the data across a minimum of two disks. Although half the total capacity of the NAS is lost (2x 1TB = 1TB useable), in the event of one drive failing, the NAS can be turned off, the failed drive replaced and then the mirror rebuilt. This is a popular data security solution but can be costly on drives bearing in mind half the capacity is lost.
RAID 5 - Stripe + 1 Parity
This method of RAID stripes the data across a minimum of two disks. Generally speaking, RAID 0 increases the read and write speeds proportionally to the number of disks you use, however although no capacity is lost with the array, there is also no fault tolerance, so RAID 0 may not be ideal for critical data storage.
RAID 6 - Stripe + 2 Parity
This is an enhancement to the technology used in RAID 5 – with this method data is striped across a minimum of four disks, but with two distributed parity blocks – although a greater degree of useable capacity is lost (4x 1TB = 2TB), it has the benefit that two drives can fail whilst still allowing the array to be rebuilt. This can be a key factor if employing large drive sizes (4TB and above), as rebuild times can be significantly lengthened.
RAID 10 - Stripe + Mirror
This method of RAID employs a minimum of four drives, and features two RAID 1 mirror configurations striped across the four drives for improved read and write performance. Data integrity is very high, as the array will tolerate a drive failure in each of the mirrored blocks, but again it should be noted that as larger capacity drives are used, the rebuild times in the event of a failure significantly lengthened.

Track and Trace
Once we have processed your order you can use our web portal to track and trace the status of your 3XS NAS system as it is built and tested by our engineers.
Intensively Tested
Fitting the drives into a NAS chassis may only takes a few minutes, but configuring the software and setting up the RAID array(s) can take a huge amount of time. By ordering a 3XS NAS system our engineers take this painful process away, and as all our NAS systems undergo comprehensive testing once set up, you can be sure that it is ready to use as soon as you receive it.
Packaging
Once your system has passed our rigorous Quality Control procedure any space inside the case will be filled with anti-static bubble wrap. This has been specially developed for 3XS Systems and helps to protect your system when it is with our courier. Please ensure you remove this bubble wrap before turning on the system for the first time. We also double box all systems, with the inner box cushioned inside the larger outer box by a layer of shock-absorbing plastic air pockets.
