I purchased this for ITX gaming system, so it would be fair do not to accept the same results for a bigger case.
In the Silverstone FTZ01 it does not work very well, idle temp 46c with the low 92mm fan fitted, and case fan above, the 25mm noctua fan does not fit into the case, the mainboard i'm using is asus impact vii with 4770k cpu, the cooler does fit the board. Also noted when the Noctua 92mm fan is fitted only and the system is cold, cpu fan errors are reported by the mainboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarlosFandango Great low profile quiet fan for 2011 V3 socket
I bought this fan for its low profile as previously i had bought huge great towering monsters and was pleasantly surprised by this. It was low profile compared to other offerings, 2 decent size fan and heat sinks, full PWM control so quite as a mouse when needed. Fully recommend this fan for anyone building an X99 set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Raymondo Quiet and cool
I recently built a new i74930K workstation and put an NH-L12 in. Really quiet and short enough to fit my 19" rack case. The new PC was so quiet I retro fitted another NH-L12 in my older workstation and used the included voltage adaptor cables to run the chassis fans. Now that PC is extremely quiet too.
No more constant white noise in the studio! The noisiest thing is the room now is the fridge.
On my Asus P9X79 Deluxe motherboard the NH-L12 prevents ram modules taller than 43mm being fitted in the slots nearest the CPU. Not a problem if you're using four modules but worth thinking about if you want to populate all eight slots.
CPU idles at 42C, hits 70C under load with all 12 cores topping out.
Now, if only Noctua made fridges . . .

Rated 3 out of 5 by pbrain Couldn't use it with tall memory
I bought this to go on an ITX system (Gigabyte A85) which needs to use fast ram, so i bought this to keep the APU at decent temps, unfortunately the upper heatsink is too wide for my tall RAM, so it's not being used. I could have done some DIY and shaved the size down, but at the price I paid I couldn't! It will get used for a future HTPC build (hopefully).
It should be OK for a typical HTPC build with low profile RAM.
