Full Stack TypeScript/JavaScript Developer

We are looking to add talented and enthusiastic Fullstack TypeScript/JavaScript developers to join our Digital Signage Business Unit’s development team at Scan HQ in Bolton, Lancashire. The role will involve working on new projects and extending the functionality of current customer facing systems.

We primarily work with Node, React and Express. There are opportunities to work with a range of different languages and platforms, using the right tool for the job. We constantly reflect on our use of technology and are looking for candidates who are open to learning, able to try out new approaches and not afraid to challenge existing methods.

General

Hours

Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 with 1 hour for lunch

Location

Scan Computers International Ltd, Enterprise Park, Middlebrook, Horwich, Bolton, BL6 6PE. Also some remote working when required.

Key Responsibilities

Overview

• Provide Web Development for the Digital Signage Business Unit
• Maintain and bug fix existing codebases

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Technical Architects for the best solution
• Stakeholder expectation management with the ability to push back when appropriate rather than overpromise
• Work closely with account managers on new features and workshops
• Test and deploy apps and features.
• Demonstrate application features to users, either face to face, or remotely
• Ad hoc tasks requested by the Business Unit and Management Team
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
• Be able to work independently from a specification/ticket to produce code for release
• Proactive and highly organised with a high attention to detail
• A willingness and passion for learning new technology as required
• An ability to explore technology solutions across the technology stack
• Increase product knowledge through personal research and ongoing internal training

Skills and Experience;

Experience

• Experience and knowledge of React, NodeJS, Relational and Document Databases
• Experienced with writing REST and consuming 3rd party APIs
• Understanding and ownership of best practice (eg. TDD, BDD, SOLID)
• Working knowledge of CI/CD practices and deployments
• Version Control with the use of Git
• Experience of writing documentation and knowledge sharing.

Skills

• Comfortable with TypeScript
• Experience with Linux: Ubuntu, CentOS would be beneficial
• Experience with Cloud Platforms would be beneficial (Azure/AWS)
• Basic knowledge of Networking would be beneficial (DNS, DHCP, etc…)
• An understanding of OOP and Functional Programming would be beneficial
• Experience with publishing and maintaining npm packages would be beneficial
• Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritise in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work well alone and as part of a team
• Must be comfortable interacting and engaging with high value customers
• High quality and professional communication skills
