Product Overview NOTE - This Processor requires an X99 Motherboard & DDR4 Memory.

8. The new power number. It looks like an infinite loop, which is appropriate as that is the power you possess with the new Intel® Core™ i7-5960X processor.

8 independent cores of unbelievable power that encourage you to become the digital content creator or gamer you always wanted to be. Need cores to render? Check. Need cores to compile? Check. Need core to seek and destroy in the latest game? Check. It seems almost unfair to add Intel® Hyper Threading Technology for a total of 16 threads at your disposal. You want burst speed performance for those jobs that require a bit more frequency? Intel® Turbo Boost Technology has that covered. But that little voice inside of you is saying you want even more? Let that voice know that the processor is unlocked and is ready for you to tune it to fit your demanding needs. Tune cores, power, memory, or whatever else you need to tune to make your system fit your needs.

Intel Core i7 5960X Extreme Unlocked, S 2011-3, Haswell-E, 8 Core, 3.0GHz Clock, 3.5GHz Turbo, 20MB, 40 Lane, 140W, CPU is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic processor one of the best processors ever created, idle 30C with Corsair H110i GTX, and over 40-45C on full load, 2 or more Noctua fans are must buy and push-pull recommended, and full watercooling is the best option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the fastest i7 Processor out there, also one of the most expensive. I upgraded from i7-4930K to i7-5960X. This is a new platform, which requires a 2011-v3 socket motherboard and DDR4 RAM. If you are planning to build a new system, this is one of the fastest cpu you can get. For everyday normal applications, I don't feel any performance benefits over my last system (i7-4930K). But I do a lot of archiving and photo editing, and the extra cores helps in those cases. And add 64GB RAM, and you can run a lot of virtual machines with the 16 available cores. All in all, recommended CPU if you can afford the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money. I'm using this cpu for 3d rendering and modelling , the cpu itself is expensive but it's worth every pound if you know what to do with it , a good advantage of ddr 4 memory too.

I believe you have to buy as you buy the CPU from retailer. I ran scan to check before I bought. Scan!
