I had kind of thought a power supply is a power supply until recently when I bought a Corsair cx430 for a HTPC and its fan used to kick in regularly and was overpoweringly loud for use in the living room.
So I did some more reading and settled on a Seasonic G-360 as a replacement and have never thought about power supplies again since (which is how I wanted it to be). Hardly noticeable noise. Easy to install and a decent seeming build quality.
Recommended for HTPC use.

360 watts might seem on the low side, even for a regular PC. But modern PC/mobos don't need a lot of 3.3 or 5 volts. So long as there's enough 12 volts supply you're OK. This unit has plenty 12 volts, and cuts back a bit on the 3.3 and 5 volts which you don't need anyway. Efficiency and power delivery are first rate. And as you know it's never a good idea to put too powerful a PSU in your PC such that it is hardly working. Save your money and get this high quality unit for your typical PC.

Quality almost silent & just runs 24/7
most important if you are using it in a server or media centre PC.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Logic Good PSU, but got faulty after 2 weeks
The first one has stopped working after 2 weeks. Good PSU and was an ideal choice for my system(Q9550, Radeon 5770).
RMA was working like a dream. Excellent customer service.
Got my new one which is working and hope that I won`t have problem with this one.
Seasonic is one of the best PSU brands and there are faulty products in mass-production regardless the brand. Altogether I haven`t regret to bought this so far. If this 2nd one gets faulty then I may regret it.
Average rating, because the 1st was faulty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by tomm3h Solid offering, good package
Very happy to see it came well-packed, including velcro ties and all fitting accessories.
Also very glad to see that the FDD connectors were included as an optional converter, rather than a useless appendage permanently attached to it.
Feels well built and thus far, has worked rocked my home server rather efficiently (it's not the quietest ever, but I wouldn't say it was noisy at all.)
