Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant Card. Bought this card to replace my HD6850, and I can't fault it. Requires 2 8 pin power connectors ( or 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 8 pin can't quite remember. ) but it is a powerhouse. Has a lot of room for overclocking but can get a bit hot so if OCing is your game I'd recommend buying a better cooler. That's not to say the stock cooler isn't good though, I've given mine a small overclock and it's still well within temp threshold. Plays every game I've thrown at it on max settings, ranging from World of warcraft to dayz to crysis and battlefield. Overall it's a fantastic card that still beats some of the R9 range. Good value for money and will last a long long time. 06 October 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by this product has some major flaws Product run all modern games but the double fans do not help with the cooling of the card in anyway reaches extremely high temperatures in game play which causes shut off and crashing and temps are on borderlines to manufactures limits 01 October 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible temps - Great gaming quality. After using this graphics card for just under a month the graphics card gets really hot, even when not under load I reach 65'c and when playing on ultra on some games I get over 85'c.. When you reach over 72'c the graphics card starts to smell.. If I was re-buying a card I wouldn't buy this.. Yeah. 15 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall very please with one minor exception. A fantastic card! I already had one of these in my system and it achieved great frames on modern games (June 2014) I decided to add another in crossfire and bought this one and had a great improvement. The frames are steady and on ultra for most games get 40 fps (arma 3) in built up areas. On other games such as team fortress I get 200+ frames! The cards themselves are solidly built and you can see it screams quality. The one niggle I have is the cooling performance of the top card in crossfire is quite poor, I have had to repurpose fans and place the secondary card in an 8x PCI lane to get enough air flow to the primary... However this is also in part due to my mother board layout, as well as the poor air circulation the dual fans on the card provide. 10 June 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good solid value for money There are better, faster, higher RAM cards out there but this is a solid card that delivers fast graphics and has good multi-monitor support. Needed a 650W-or-so PSU but apparently chews about 175W which is significantly less than the 7970. Easy to fit, drivers seem stable, happy to recommend. 16 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2GB XFX Radeon HD 7870 DD Edition (Tahiti LE) When i ordered this card i never realised i would be recieving the Tahiti LE version of the card which has more cores than advertised, sadly it wasnt compatiable with my other 7870 due to the pitcarn and tahiti chipsets being incompatiable with each other for crossfire use, it would have been nice to be told that this card was going to be a tahiti le based version before hand so i could have made a different choice, but seeing it came with a 2 free games voucher ive sold my original XFX HD7870 and am now having to wait until i cant get my hands on another tahiti le based R7870... so buyer, use caution... other than that this card runs hotter than my old 7870, luckily i have a well ventilated case (Coolermaster HAF XB which i purchased from scan at the same time) 03 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by vary pleased with item and service from scan also i`ve found them to be cheaper than the rest i looked at thanks scan. All round great pleased with my whole shopping experience with scan. 30 January 2014

Just bought this graphics card and a Corsair CX 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V power supply, but I'm not sure what power leads to plug in. The card has a 8-pin block & a 6-pin block, does it need power to both?

Thanks

yes you will need to plug in the 6+2 and 6 pin pci-e connectors or the card wont run properly if at all and you may damage it due to lack of power

Answer:
Hi there - yes it needs both 8- and 6-pin power feeds connected. Hopefully you'll be OK with 500W but that is the min recommended.

Answer:
You've probably found out already but just to see this question answered I'll do so.

You have to plug both in.
XFX recommend you don't use an adaptor but a psu with in dependant plugs, I did use an adaptor before I upgraded to a crossfire set up with these cards and it worked fine.
But yeh... Plug both in buddy.

Yes it does. :D
It uses PCI-E power cable, your PSU should cover that no problem.

Answer:
Hi there, yes I bought the card recently and toyed with only plugging one power lead in or the other. The card will power on with only one in but you won't get a display without the other. So yes it does need both.

Hope this helped!
