Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall very please with one minor exception. A fantastic card! I already had one of these in my system and it achieved great frames on modern games (June 2014) I decided to add another in crossfire and bought this one and had a great improvement. The frames are steady and on ultra for most games get 40 fps (arma 3) in built up areas. On other games such as team fortress I get 200+ frames! The cards themselves are solidly built and you can see it screams quality. The one niggle I have is the cooling performance of the top card in crossfire is quite poor, I have had to repurpose fans and place the secondary card in an 8x PCI lane to get enough air flow to the primary... However this is also in part due to my mother board layout, as well as the poor air circulation the dual fans on the card provide. 10 June 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good solid value for money There are better, faster, higher RAM cards out there but this is a solid card that delivers fast graphics and has good multi-monitor support. Needed a 650W-or-so PSU but apparently chews about 175W which is significantly less than the 7970. Easy to fit, drivers seem stable, happy to recommend. 16 May 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2GB XFX Radeon HD 7870 DD Edition (Tahiti LE) When i ordered this card i never realised i would be recieving the Tahiti LE version of the card which has more cores than advertised, sadly it wasnt compatiable with my other 7870 due to the pitcarn and tahiti chipsets being incompatiable with each other for crossfire use, it would have been nice to be told that this card was going to be a tahiti le based version before hand so i could have made a different choice, but seeing it came with a 2 free games voucher ive sold my original XFX HD7870 and am now having to wait until i cant get my hands on another tahiti le based R7870... so buyer, use caution... other than that this card runs hotter than my old 7870, luckily i have a well ventilated case (Coolermaster HAF XB which i purchased from scan at the same time) 03 February 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing great item and is well worth the money if you are looking for something to game with. 14 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome I love this Graphics card and it is great for the price, it holds up well to the Nvidia 660ti which is alot more than this card. First build and I loved it! 10 August 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 Worth every penny I bought this card for my gaming pc in June, and having owned it for over a month now, I feel that I can give an accurate review. This card is very simple to install, just like most graphics cards. The drivers that came with the card were also extremely easy to set up, and the user interface is absolutely fine. Now, the performance of the card itself; I was expecting good performance from this card, and I got much more than I was expecting! It runs almost everything on ultra without any issues, and if you seek high frame rates, then this card gets excellent frame rates, especially on normal / lower settings. The card does get rather warm (it reached 78 degrees C on a warm day), but if you improve the air cooling in your case (as I did) it will be fine. The dual fans can get a bit noisy past 59% speed, but they aren't stupidly loud, and it isn't very noticeable when you are engrossed in a game. This is probably one of the best value for money graphics cards as of this date, so I certainly recommend it to people considering it. Also, the free games are a nice bonus! 29 July 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good value, not so good temps Very good value does it's job of handling games on full ultra no problem, but I temps go way to high even with 100% speed for a dual fan configuration. 17 July 2013

Just bought this graphics card and a Corsair CX 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V power supply, but I'm not sure what power leads to plug in. The card has a 8-pin block & a 6-pin block, does it need power to both?

Thanks

Answer:
Yes it does. :D
It uses PCI-E power cable, your PSU should cover that no problem.

Answer:
yes you will need to plug in the 6+2 and 6 pin pci-e connectors or the card wont run properly if at all and you may damage it due to lack of power

Answer:
You've probably found out already but just to see this question answered I'll do so.

You have to plug both in.
XFX recommend you don't use an adaptor but a psu with in dependant plugs, I did use an adaptor before I upgraded to a crossfire set up with these cards and it worked fine.
But yeh... Plug both in buddy.

Answer:
Hi there - yes it needs both 8- and 6-pin power feeds connected. Hopefully you'll be OK with 500W but that is the min recommended.
