Rated 4 out of 5 by This is a good stable and fast HDD Great buy, excellent value for money, does what is asked of it. 30 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice performance and quiet! This is a bit faster than my previous 1tb western digital HDD, but it's also much much quieter. I was pleasantly surprised by its quietness, when I do anything on my old drive it really becomes apparent how loud it was. Great price too. 07 March 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by A bit concerned so far bought this to replace an older dying 500gb drive (also Seagate) and although it passes the smart and full range of seagate tools tests, the horrible clicking and screeching intermittantly coming from the drive is the stuff of nightmares. Definately an RMA in the making here. Shame I can only comment about this one as I know there are plenty of others out there with no issues, 19 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good balance between size / cost / backup I bought 2 of these 1Tb drives for 2 tower systems. For me I chose 1Tb over 2Tb as I think disk space is rather like garage and loft space: The more you have the more junk you keep. Additionally, the more you store the more you need to back up. Add to this that they were a reasonable price and a make I trust ... Happy with my choice. 19 February 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Working well so far! Working well so far. If its still going in a year time then I can write a proper review. :) 02 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A very affordable 1TB mechanical HDD with good speed This 1TB drive is quick and good value for money with plenty of room for my media files. Partner it with a good SSD as a system drive and it's an ideal combination. 26 January 2015

Answer:
SATA III is backwards compatible so you can use this drive with a SATA II port, without issues but of course will operate at SATA II speeds.

Answer:
I've put one of these in a machine with a SATA II motherboard and it worked fine, so I guess the answer is yes, but probably depends on the motherboard.
