Rated 5 out of 5 by Replacement SATA HDD This 1TB Seagate ST1000DN003was bought to replace a failed 500GB HDD. It has breathed new life into a Dell Zino HD at highly competitive price and with a good spec. Perfect. 27 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It does its job Bought two to upgrade the capacity of my Netgear ReadyNas Duo. New setup faster access as well as twice the capacity. Worked faultlessly for a month now. 25 July 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy to install, works as expected, but... The Barracuda has a very large memory capacity for it's price, and as I am currently using it in a gaming PC, this is a huge bonus, but it unfortunately reduced my system's overall score on the Windows Experience Index from 7.3 to 5.9 (although this doesn't affect me, I like to keep my scores up). 20 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by bought to replace faulty drive in iMac 27" Always liked Seagate HDD's and this seems pretty nippy with its large cache, overall good value for money, just unable to say much about lifespan as it's not long since been fitted (it is replacing its failed apple branded - but same part - in 27" iMac) 14 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent value for the money The usual seagate quality and value for money enhanced by Scan's superb service and keeping the price as low as possible. 11 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by not much to say, very reliable cheap hdd not much to say, very reliable cheap hdd and haven't had any problems at all 17 April 2015

Answer:
SATA III is backwards compatible so you can use this drive with a SATA II port, without issues but of course will operate at SATA II speeds.

Answer:
I've put one of these in a machine with a SATA II motherboard and it worked fine, so I guess the answer is yes, but probably depends on the motherboard.

Answer:
Generally a SATA III drive will work with a SATA II controller, but only at the best SATA II speed, not the higher SATA III speed.
