League of Legends: Jinx
League of Legends has enchanted and captivated many players around the globe. One of the many reasons why so many people are drawn to the game is because of the interesting champions and characters. I started playing League of Legends in 2010 and have thoroughly enjoyed it. However, around late 2012/early 2013 the game started to become quite stagnant for me because there weren’t a lot of characters I liked to play on a consistent basis. I would main Caitlyn, Miss Fortune and Kog’Maw and play them over and over again, but that got old after a while. It wasn’t fun to me anymore. Luckily, when October 2013 rolled around, a champion named Jinx came into the fold and reignited my love for League of Legends all over again. Jinx is an amazing champion that brings a lot to the table, so check out and read this article for a few reasons on why Jinx is such an awesome character!
She stands out
These days, tanky champions like Maokai and Braum and assassin champions like Fizz and Talon are part of the meta and see increased exposure because of their status in the pro scene. Sometimes seeing the same champions over and over again becomes tiring, and this is one of the reasons why I was drawn to Jinx: she stands out. Not a lot of champions look and act like her, so she is a refreshing addition to the game. A wild blue-haired gun enthusiast with a crazy personality to match! Characters with fascinating backgrounds like Jinx have kept the game from becoming stagnant and boring. The events leading up to her reveal were some of the most hyped in the game’s history and were filled with excitement, which made many players (including myself) eager for Jinx’s release.
Her Lore is Compelling
Jinx is a criminal that acts impulsively and gets bored easily. She finds the land of Piltover to be quite dull, so it is one of her main targets for her brand of mayhem. Jinx also likes to terrorize the community of Piltover, especially Vi, a cop and enforcer, and Jinx’s main rival. Armed with an impressive arsenal of weapons, Jinx has unleashed destruction that has had the residents of Piltover reeling. She is credited with bringing about the worst crime scene in Piltover history. As Jinx’s chaos escalated, Caitlyn, the sheriff of Piltover and another one of Jinx’s main rivals, announced a manhunt to capture Jinx, and Jinx responded by defacing the Piltover treasury building as a direct challenge to Vi. Despite her best efforts, Vi was not able to capture Jinx as she destroyed the building and exploded it to bits.
Riot could have made Jinx into a flat, formulaic criminal character, but Jinx is much more than that. She has a history with both Caitlyn and Vi that runs deep, and has interesting relationships with the two characters. Jinx also has a wonderful, biting sense of humor and isn’t afraid to lay into and provoke her rivals. A lot of the other champions in League of Legends have rivalries, but they seem a bit one-dimensional to me. Jinx’s lore and background is a lot more fleshed out and fascinating.
Her Personality is Fascinating
Like I said above, Jinx definitely stands out, and one of those reasons is because of her manic, crazy personality. There a lot of cool champions in the game with interesting backgrounds, but their personalities are just not there and you really don’t get a feel of who they are when you play them; but Jinx is different in the regard. When I play Jinx, I really feel like I’m in her shoes, wreaking havoc across Summoner’s Rift. Despite what you see on the surface, Jinx has a complex personality. She doesn’t cause destruction for the heck of it. Her need for chaos comes from a place inside her that wants to see fun and excitement, and if that means shooting up entire cities and causing explosions everywhere, then so be it. Jinx isn’t afraid to let her true self show and will definitely let you know how she’s feeling. She has a very magnetic personality that makes it easy to gravitate towards her, and it’s why I was so drawn to her in the first place.
Jinx is an amazing champion that stands out amongst the rest. She has set the standard for what champion releases should be like, and with her debut, she instilled and brought upon new life in League of Legends and made it more fun to play, both for me and other players for the first time in a while. There are 122 champions in the game, and with that many characters in League of Legends, personalities can sometimes blend together, but Jinx doesn’t have that problem. With a compelling backstory and lore, attention-grabbing look, explosive set of skills, and fascinating personality, Jinx truly has it all.
